Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale

This is my top Lilly look I've ever worn! I bought this back in 2016 or 2017 I think! This is me outside a Lilly signature store in Naples, FL.

It's that time of year again. It's the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale! This year I won't be shopping since I really don't need anything. Last season I said that and I ended up buying a few things #oops. But, this year I really do mean it! But, I did go through the sale and round up some of my top picks. I tried to focus on pieces that are pretty neutral that really anyone could wear. So ever if you don't like Lilly you may like some of these pieces. Even one of the dresses I picked up last year is included again.

For example if you are looking for a great white dress this sale is the perfect time to pick one up! Whether you need it for a bachelorette party, bridal shower, or for sorority functions Lilly does a great white dress.

Lilly + Starbucks Water Bottles are HERE!

The world is blessing us with so many fabulous brand collaborations recently. The latest and greatest collab is the Lilly Pulitzer + Starbucks Swell water bottles. How cute are they!

*via Lilly Pulitzer*

My journey for my Lilly water bottle is quite the story. I woke up early to pick one up at the Starbucks right next to my apartment. My family friend frantically texted me saying they were sold out in my hometown (in Illinois) already. Mind you this is at 7am. So, I panicked and threw on my clothes and ran out the door. I texted my mom and boyfriend so they could be on the hunt too.

I went to the Starbucks feet away from my apartment, saw none on the shelves, so I asked the cashier if they had them. He brought the manager out and she said they weren't carrying them but her little sister got one this morning at a different Ames location. The manager continues to explain to the clueless barista what Lilly Pulitzer is and why someone would care so much about a water bottle. Anyways, I told my friend and she said to give them a call and check. So I frantically ran to my 8am and called the Starbucks outside of my classroom.

I asked if they had the Lilly Pulitzer Swell bottles. Her response, priceless, "Oh the flowery ones?". Me, "Yeah....". Only in Iowa would no one care about these! Hey works to my advantage. Meanwhile my mom went to a Starbucks back home and found some for both of us. Score! But, I still wanted to checkout what the Ames location had. After my two classes I ran there.

Also, meanwhile, my boyfriend picked them up at his Starbucks and was going to surprise me. Of course I had to ruin it and go get them for myself. It's the thought that counts though!

I show up to the Ames Starbucks (around 10am) and BAM they had them! The cashier told me that a lot of stores sold out early because they put them out before the release. That would explain why people had them on the 13th, even though they came out the 15th. None the less, I was super excited to get some from the collection! If you can get your hands on one (or more) I highly suggest it. They are super cute and of course adorable.

Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale Haul

This year for the Lilly sale I shopped online (super early in the morning!) and at the Naples location because I was in Florida for the sale. In store there was not nearly as much stuff that was available online. But, shopping online is a stressful thing, however there is a lot wider variety of items! A few things I had wanted disappeared from my cart, as they do something. But, I ended up with some great items like a casual dress, a ruffled tank, a printed tank, and a zip up athletic sweatshirt. I also picked up a few random things like a new pair of croakies, a jewelry tray, a planner pack, and a new phone case!

OOTD: Before Midnight

Hello everyone! Today is the day! It's the After Party Lilly Sale!!! I hope you have scored some good deals from the site. I picked up a few things online and in-store this morning so be on the lookout for a haul!

But, for NYE I wore a black Lilly dress that I picked up at the last After Party Sale. This dress has beautiful gold sparkly detailing at the neck which made it the perfect Florida NYE dress. I've never been somewhere warm for NYE so it was fun to dress up in a different kind of way. I ditched the tights, heels, and sequins for something more simple but still in the holiday spirit.

To keep things casual I threw on a pair of Jack Rogers and kept my hair in loose curls. Since I was on vacation and we spent the day at the beach I didn't want to spend to much time getting ready for the evening. We spent NYE at my boyfriend's family friend's house watching football and eating an amazing dinner. I like keeping things simple for NYE. Large parties are fun but I think it's nice having a relaxed and fun evening for NYE!

For accessories I wore a mix of gold and rose gold jewelry with hints of glitter. Also, I picked up this adorable champagne cork purse from Kate Spade to ring in the new year. I love this bag and it is the perfect size to fit your phone, a lipstick, and a small wallet. This is my first "specialty" bag from Kate Spade so I was excited to pick it up on sale from one of their surprise sales last month.

I hope you are having a great start of 2016! I can't wait to experience more things and to continue to write for Sew Cute Style and create new and exciting content.
Happy New Year!

What to Wear: Wedding Season

I don't know about you, but I love weddings! Although I haven't been to a wedding in a while, I always think about what I would wear. Here are two dresses and two ways I would style them for a perfect wedding look.

Dress 1:
Look 1- This first look is perfect for a more dressy affair. The heels are closed toe so they are great for an indoor wedding. Add some light gold bangles and a simple clutch to balance out the print of the dress. I have this Lilly dress and I think it would be a great wedding dress! Its super flirty and fun and just the right amount of dressiness in my opinion.
Look 2- The second way to wear this dress is a little more casual. I paired the dress with a playful bag, pair of sequin wedges, and a bold statement earring. I would wear this look to maybe an outdoor wedding. The wedges are usually more comfortable then heels so they are great if you want to dance all night long.

Dress 2:
Look 1- A lot of people don't think you can wear a white dress to a wedding. But, I think not! If you accessorize it the right way I think a white lace dress is a great option. For the first way to style the dress I used all black accessories. Pair you dress with a bold black statement necklace, black wedges, and a black cross body to mimic a tuxedo look.
Look 2- I think this look is a perfect beach wedding look! Pair your simple white dress with a pair of bright pink sandals, statement earrings, and a fun clutch. With these bold accessories it will brighten up your simple dress. If pink isn't your favorite use whatever color you please for you accent color!

Sunglass Strap Addict

The perfect summer accessory

A while back my bestie sent me a pair of Lilly Pulitzer sunglass straps or croakies. Ever since then I became obsessed with them! They are really the perfect summer accessory. Not only are they fashionable but they are practical. In case you don't know, croakies basically keep your sunglasses around your neck when you aren't wearing them. These are great if you are constantly taking your sunglasses on and off. I wear these basically every time I leave the house. Pair them with an aviator sunglasses for the perfect summer look.

Sunglass straps are perfect for anyone! They have great styles for a guy in your life (possible fathers day gift?) or for yourself. I love this American flag sunglass strap for a guy. It's super patriotic and great for the summer, not to mention Fourth of July! Then for girls I love the Lilly Pulitzer croakies. They are bright, colorful, and super fun for any summer day. The Vineyard Vines croakies pictured are great for any girl or guy. They come in a bunch of colors and are a great classic sunglass strap to have.

Preppy Diaries: Hot pink and bows

Neon kick
Recently I have been wearing a lot of neon! I don't know if it is because it is summer or all of a sudden I am into bright colors but I am kind of liking it. I am also liking this super girly and preppy ensemble that I wore this lovely day. For my shorts I picked a bright neon pink chino short and paired it with a simple white shell top. The top is super cute because it has three bows that go down the front which gives it an extra girly touch. To tie in the pink color I wore a pair of bold statement earrings that have pinks and purple shades in the stones. I kept my shoes comfortable because this day I drove down to my friends house in Bettendorf for the weekend. So I wanted to stay comfortable in the car. In this look I am also wearing my go-to sunglasses that I always keep on my Lilly Pulitzer croakies. Litearlly sunglass straps are the best invention because you can just keep them around your neck and they are perfect for if you going in and out of places. Not to mention they come in cute patterns! I completed the look with my usual watch and bracelets of course.

Neon needs

Bright lights!
Neon is always a huge summer trend. However, I have noticed a lot of brands taking it to a new level this season. I am loving all of the bright bold colors! Here are some neon needs of mine that would be perfect for a day at the beach.

Blog Haul: Memorial Day Sales

Sales, Sales, Sales!
So, I did some MAJOR shopping during the memorial day sales! I went to J Crew, J Crew factory, Nordstrom, Urban Outfitters, Madewell, American Eagle, and a few other places! I literally went crazy. It was bad. But amazing. I have no regrets. So here is a blog haul for you to show you most of the things I got! Some of the things I'm not sure if I'm keeping or I'm getting them for my birthday (which is June 19th!), and some are not summer appropriate so I will show you the other things later.

Dresses: These two dresses are going to be great little summer dresses. I am obsessed with this pineapple dress from the J Crew factory outlet. It has a sweetheart neckline then some thin adjustable straps. Kind of similar is this navy and polka dot dress from Urban Outfitters. This dress was only about $15-$20 so I couldn't pass it up.
Skirt and tee: I picked up an ADORABLE pineapple tee (you see the addiction is real). I can't wait to pair this with a simple pair of shorts for an easy summer look. Then this lime green linen skirt I picked up from J Crew and it ended up being pretty cheap. J Crew had 40% off their sale section so I got a lot of good deals there.

Shirts: Next I got a tunic, plaid shirt, then an anchor sweater. The navy tunic is from J Crew then the other two shirts are from the J Crew factory store.

Crop top and shorts: Both of these things were from American Eagle. With their sale section 60% off both of these pieces were under $10 each! So these were a great find.
Chino shorts: I have been in desperate need of some chino shorts. So I got three pairs form the J Crew store. The two neon pairs were about $20 then the white ones were full price but I need them for recruitment! The neon green and white ones are 3 inch and the hot pink ones are 5 inch I believe.

Shorts: These two shorts are from Urban Outfitters. They were both under $15 which is such a steal. I love the scallop detail on the black lace shorts. It gives them an extra girly touch.

Dresses: These two dresses are also recent purchases but not really from Memorial Day sales. The dress on the left is from TJMaxx but is a Kate Spade Saturday dress. You can probably picture me in the store silently freaking out so I went to try it on and it fit perfectly. Also, I got a Lilly Pulitzer dress on sale during a Rue La La Lilly sale. It was a pretty good deal as far as Lilly Pulitzer goes and since I can't go to the warehouse sale that will have to do!

Scarves: Both of these scarves ended up being around $7! I love the white and neon one and will be great to pair with my neon chino shorts. The red, white, and blue American inspired scarf will be great for 4th of July or when I'm feeling patriotic.

How I've styled my new pieces:

These two tops are new as well! The striped tank was only $10 at J Crew outlet. Then the denim tunic is form Madewell and was around $19! Also my statement necklace is new. I got it at the J Crew outlet for only $15.

New shoes and bag. New navy Sperry Top-Siders are from Nordstrom and were around $50 I believe. Then you have seen my new purse that I picked up from the Kate Spade outlet! Got a great deal on it and I'm obsessed.
