OOTD: Preppy Boho

Denim shirts are some of my casual pieces to wear. This bleached printed shirt is perfect to pair with a solid pair of chino shorts for a cooler summer day. Or you can wear it any day in the summer! Air condition everywhere you go can get chilly, so I like having sleeves so I can roll them down or keep them up.

This gold belt is my go-to belt. I love wearing gold metallic belts because I always wear gold jewelry. It's a great neutral belt that I can wear with practically anything.

A quick fix to a bad hair day is a fun headband! I picked this one up a while ago from the Lilly for Target collection. It has great beaded detailing with white and gold beads. With a little dry shampoo and a headband you can turn any bad hair day around.

This look mixes a boho style tunic top with my favorite preppy classic chino shorts. I added an espadrille to combine the styles and to tie the look together. It's nice to mix things up once in a while and try a different look out (but not too different!).

OOTD: Navy, Pink, and Lilly

For my birthday I got an oddly large amount of navy and pink gifts! So, I've been loving wearing all of my new goodies recently. I am for sure one of those people that wears all of her new purchases or gifts all at once right away. Waiting just isn't in my nature when it comes to new accessories and clothing!

I paired one of my favorite Lilly tops with a simple navy skirt. To keep the navy and pink theme going I wore my new navy Jack Rogers and my very cute new Draper James bag. This is my first purchase Draper James and I am in love with this bag. It's a great size, very nice leather for the price (I scored it on sale!), and has adorable details.

Another gift was this super cute KJP Vickers Bow bracelet. KJP is currently having 25% off their entire site! So, if you've been wanting items from KJP now is the time to buy.

Navy and pink has been a favorite color combination for a while. I love that navy can be a more colorful neutral then just black. Also, pink and navy just seem to make the perfect pairing. Pink is practically a neutral for me but it is nice to balance it out with a darker color even for the summer.

Shoes: Jack Rogers
Purse: Draper James

OOTD: 21st Birthday

This past Sunday (aka Father's Day) I turned 21! Finally I can order a glass of wine at dinner or join my friends at the bar. Right now I am in Ames visiting school for a fun birthday weekend. But, today I am sharing what I wore for my 21st birthday dinner!

For my birthday dinner I wore this fun tassel dress with a high neckline. I love this dress because it is super flowy but has a defined waist. Not to mention, tassels are all the rage! Tassels are a super fun detail that I am loving for summer.

To accessorize the look I wore my light pink Kendra Scott earrings. I also wore my Tiffany & Co. pearl bracelet that I got as a Christmas gift from my boyfriend. I always save it for special occasions! In addition, I added a Kendra Scott cuff and a few Alex and Ani bracelets to the look. For shoes I wore my favorite Target sandals with rhinestone detailing.

#SummerInLilly: My ALL TIME Favorite Lilly Looks

It's officially SUMMER! The first day of summer was Monday and it was National Wear Your Lilly Day. So, today I thought I would round up my all time favorite Lilly looks and pieces from the blog.

This look was from my trip to Florida over winter break. I love this pink seersucker skort. Lilly skorts, I think, are a very underrated Lilly piece. They are super comfortable and can be dressed up or down. I dressed mine down with a simple denim button down and Jack Rogers.

This is BY FAR my favorite Lilly piece I own. This shift is sew cute and is so bright and colorful. It's classic Lilly. In this post I go over all of my tips for shopping the After Party Sale. The After Party Sale will be coming up in the next few months so be on the lookout! This is when I buy ALL of my Lilly. Prices are super reasonable and you can score a lot of pieces for under $100.

Flamingos are my favorite pink friends so naturally I love this skirt! This skort is also one of my favorites because of the adorable print and white detailing. Pairing the bold print with a simple white button down creates a cute classic look. I added a gold belt to tie the look together.

OOTD: Gingham Bag

I featured this gingham bag in a post a while bag all about gingham. I've been obsessing over it for weeks and I finally picked it up! Luckily I scored it for over 50% off! So be sure to check your J Crew store because they are not on sale on line. But, this is the perfect little summer bucket bag with a fun but neutral print.

Since it is National Wear Lilly day I had to wear throw in a little Lilly into my look. I wore this adorable Lilly ruffle tank that is oh-sew comfortable. Not to mention it matches practically anything. Although Lilly is known for its prints, I love some of their more simple pieces like this tank as well!

I paired the solid top with a simple navy skirt to let my accessories pop! I love these seersucker anchor loafers from J Crew. People always ask where I get them from, but sadly they are from a year or two ago. But, they are the most comfortable shoe.

OOTD: Casual Night Out

For a simple date night downtown Naperville or around the suburbs I like to keep things simple. This outfit is the perfect mix between dressy and casual. The top is a peplum style with adorable pleats on the bottom. This top is super old and I just pulled it out for the first time in forever. Recently, I've been trying to wear some of my older pieces and mixing them with new purchases. I paired the simple solid top with these fun chambray polka dot chino shorts. Chino shorts are a great basic to have for casual dinners, summer nights, or for just running errands.

To dress up the look I added this bold jewel statement necklace. This is also an old piece but I think it is so gorgeous! I balanced out the necklace with a pair of super comfy Keds. Keds are my favorite sneaker. They are so comfortable and are still cute and fashionable.

With hints of rose gold I added a slight touch of glam to the look. I layered gold Alex and Ani bangles with a fun glitter bow bangle from Kate Spade to create a texturized arm candy look. An extra pop of pink in my bag ties the whole look together.

Where it's from:
Shirt: American Eagle
Shorts: J Crew
Shoes: Vintage Keds
Bag: Longchamp
Necklace: Juicy Couture
Bracelets: Kate Spade, Alex and Ani
Earrings: Kate Spade
Watch: Michael Kors

NEW Simplified Planner Review!

It's that time of year again. Planner shopping has begun and I've already scooped up my Simplified Planner for next school year! The Simplified Planner by Emily Ley is by far my favorite planner I have purchased. This planner gives me the exact space and structure I need for my busy school life.

I picked up the Academic Daily Simplified Planner in the Fuchsia Dot patterned cover. Last year I had the rainbow striped cover, so I wanted to mix things up with something more simple. The biggest perk of this planner, in my opinion, is the daily spreads. Each day has it's own page where you can schedule your classes, appointments, or other commitments that is broken down by hour. Also, it has another column for to-do's that are separated by bullet points. This planner is perfect for any student. You can schedule your classes, meetings, tests, and more. Also, you can keep track of homework assignments and other to-dos all in one place.

This year, they have made a few new changes/ updates to the planners. First thing they added higher quality paper. While reading up on the new planners I didn't think thicker paper would make a difference. But, this paper is amazing. It is so thick and you can use felt tip pens without it bleeding through. This paper feels like it will be more durable and hold up. The cover and rings seem the same but are also great quality.

Overall, I am very impressed yet again with the Simplified Planner. I recently discovered planning videos on Youtube so I was tempted to get an Erin Condren so I could decorate my planner. But, I came to the decision that my schedule is to busy to have just two pages for a week. However, once I graduate and my life isn't as insane I plan on getting a vertical planner to decorate. For now, I am so happy to have my Simplified Planner for another year!

So many people ask me questions about my planner around campus so I wanted to share my thoughts and review on it! Like I said before, this planner is perfect for any busy person. Want more information? Check out my past review on the Emily Ley Simplified Planner

Long Grove Snapshots

For a last full summer day before my internships start my mom and I went to explore downtown Long Grove. I've never been to Long Grove so I was excited to see what the downtown area was like. It was small but super cute and had adorable buildings and tiny shops. Long Grove is full of vintage and resale shops, cute places to get treats, and small specialty stores. This place is the perfect downtown area to relax and browse around.

As someone who is mainly Irish, I loved this little Irish shop! I picked up a dainty ring and some traditional Irish candy bars for my brother.

What is your favorite downtown area like? Let me know in the comments!

OOTD: Print & Texture

For one of my last "free" days of summer, my mom and I ventured off to Long Grove's Historic Downtown area. With small cute shops in adorable buildings Long Grove is the definition of quaint.

An easy look for shopping and browsing is a breezy skirt and thin button down. I like wearing button downs just in case of cold air conditioning, but this shirt is light enough to wear in the summer. I've been reaching for this skirt non-stop since I saw a similar style back in J Crew's stock. They paired it with a tee, green utility jacket, and sneakers and it looked oh-sew-cute! Ever since I've been creating new looks with my white textured skirt.

I paired a small gingham print with a white textured detailed skirt. Mixing a solid textured skirt with a small pattern works well because nothing is to overpowering. By pairing the shirt with a statement necklace you can add another dose of texture to the look.

I recently picked up this new bright pink Longchamp and I am loving it. Pink handbags are a new favorite of mine. In my wardrobe pink is practically a neutral! All of my pink bags work great with a ton of looks.
