Sew Cute Holiday: Holiday Outfit Ideas

It's the holiday season! Which means holiday style is here. No matter how you are celebrating you can create a fun holiday look. In today's post I'm sharing some holiday outfit inspiration that I am loving. The best part is all of these pieces are on sale from November 26th-30th. Just head to the LIKEtoKNOWit app for more details! Some exclusions may apply.

LITTLE BLACK OUTFIT
Instead of a little black dress, substitute it for a little black outfit. I don't wear black a ton but during the winter I find it more appropriate. I am obsessed with this little bow black velvet headband. Perfect for the holidays! If you live somewhere cold you need this sleek puffer jacket. Will keep you cozy and warm!

PASTEL COZY CHIC
Keeping things casual this holiday season? No problem. I'm loving pink and purple pastels paired with white for the holidays. Who said Christmas has to be all about red and green! Some of these picks are great if you are spending the holidays somewhere warm. These sherpa slippers are for sure one of my favorite finds. They come in 4 colors!

TARTAN TIDINGS
More of a traditional holiday gal? No problem. Try out any of these cute tartan finds! This quilted jacket is super classic and can be worn season after season. Or opt for a cozy boucle scarf or classic tartan wrap for warmth. Complete your look with a tartan headband!

Sew Cute Holiday: Guy Gift Guide

OTHER IDEAS:

COFFEE TABLE BOOK | I always recommend gifting coffee table books in genres specific to your guy! For my dad I always look for cool car or Porsche books. I found a great one at Home Goods that I gifted him for his birthday. Check out Amazon or your local book stores for cool options.

BOTTLE OF THIER FAVORITE BOOZE | Totally lost on what to gift? Splurge on a fancy bottle of booze for your guy. Something they maybe normally wouldn't spend the money on makes it super special.

NEW PHONE CASE | If your guy is a tech fan a new phone case or iPad case may be a fun gift! Try getting a personalized case like this iphone case.

WORK BAG | This wax and leather briefcase is perfect for any guy who needs a bag upgrade. Especially would make a great gift for someone who just scored a new job or a recent graduate.

WASH BAG | Another go-to gift of mine is this leather wash bag. Great for a guy who travels for work or if you are heading on vacation soon. It is super masculine take on a makeup bag.

NEW SOCKS OR UNDER SHIRTS | Something guys don't like to buy is under shirts and socks. It is kind of boring but an easy gift! Love a fun pair of novelty socks like this striped pair.

Sew Cute Holiday: SCL Gift Guide

You asked and you shall receive! Here is my 2020 Stoney Clover Lane gift guide. These are some of my top picks and ideas in terms of gifts this year. I kind of broke them up by limited edition collections vs. core product.

MINI POUCH + DESTINATION PATCH | No matter who you are gifting this season I love the idea of a mini pouch with a destination patch. I have one with a Chicago patch and it is one of my favorites! Customize this based on the persons favorite city, home town, or somewhere they are planning on going. It is a great way for something custom that will remind them of their favorite place but it is also functional!

LUGGAGE TAG | A more affordable gift option is a luggage tag! These are great plain or with a letter on them. Great for any traveler because they can put it on any bag, suitcase, or backpack that they already own! Go for a neutral color or maybe their favorite color depending on the person.

TOTE BAG | I love the Stoney Clover Lane totes. They are great for a lot of different purposes! This would be a great gift for a student, teacher, or someone who may travel a lot. Also would make a cute gym bag for the fitness lover!

CLEAR FLAT POUCH | I've been loving my clear flat pouch to store masks and mask chains. The perfect 2020 gift? I think so. Can also use it for other things later down the road! Personally I don't recommend putting "masks" on anything because hopefully we won't need them forever..... We will see!

CLEAR TRAVEL POUCH | Another great budget friendly option as this pouch is $34. I keep mine plain because I think they are cute on their own! Great for travel, to keep masks in, or to throw in a purse or tote.

LARGE POUCH | I am loving this large sparkling cider pouch. Perfect for fall and winter plus the pearl letters are super pretty!

COZY BACKPACK | Cozy is all the rage right now, and sherpa is super in. Get this backpack for the trendy student in your life. I think it would be super cute for a college or high school student!

CORD MINI TOTE | The mini tote would make the perfect gift for anyone! I think it would be especially cute for a new mom to use as a diaper bag or for baby stuff on the go.

FANNY PACK | Their fanny packs are so good. This sand with sand heart is the exact combo I have and I always get compliments on it. It is a great neutral color and will match a ton of your outfits. Plus being hands free right now is a game changer.

COZY MINI POUCH | Loving this cozy mini pouch with the fall mini rainbow patch. This is the perfect pouch to gift anyone! Plus the mini size is super versatile.

Hopefully this gave you some gift ideas just in time for the Stoney Clover Lane Saturday Sale! Shop these pieces and more below.

Stoney Clover Sale Saturday Guide

It is TIME PEOPLE! This is not a drill! Stoney Clover Lane's BIGGEST sale of the year is this weekend Saturday November 7th. In honor of the sale I am creating a GIANT guide to all things Stoney Clover Lane. I've compiled all of my recent design inspo posts, photos of my collection, plus I am answering your Stoney Clover Lane questions you sent me on Instagram. Plus of course I am sharing what I am eyeing from the sale and what I plan to purchase. *pending of course because I like to change my mind*

If you are new to Stoney Clover Lane I recommend heading to my SCL shopping guide post!

MY WISHLIST
One of the things you wanted to know was what I am purchasing from the sale! I am honestly still finalizing it. But, this is what I am thinking so far. I really wanted the cozy mini tote in the pink. But, didn't want to splurge on it. I said I would get it if it was still available during their sale. So we shall see! Then I love this sparkling cider pouch with the new fall rainbow patch. This is a takeout option so it is already pre-made and ready to go. Then I am torn between getting a custom large buttercream pouch with the 5 hearts below. OR if I should get the buttercream heart takeout option. I don't love the pumpkin spice color which is why I am a little hesitant. But we will see how I feel. Then I am loving the new LSF x SCL mask sets. So most likely will get those! Then of course want to snag the tie dye Lele headband and the hibiscus pearl headband. Those were my two headbands on my wishlist that I haven't picked up yet.

Q&A
Answering some of the questions you submitted on Instagram, plus some commonly asked questions I get!

Q: What item do you get the most use of if you could only have ONE thing?
A: My most used pouch is the mini by far. It is great for everyday use or travel. Everyday you can use it in your work bag, purse, tote, school bag, gym bag, whatever you are using! I have a mini pouch for daily use to keep things like tissues, lipstick, lip balm, medicine, and other essentials. I also have a mini pouch that I use on the plane to keep all my plane essentials. When I get to my seat I take out the plane pouch and put it in the seat pocket. That way I don't have to dig through my bag to get things while on board! Also, the mini is one of the more affordable pouches. So I think it is a great place to start in general!

Q: What are your favorite SCL core colors?
A: Flamingo, grape, and sand. Also like lilac!

Q: What are your favorite patches?

Q: Best SCL item to give as a gift?
A: Okay so I'm going to answer this in multiple parts because why not! Best stocking stuffer I would say is the luggage tag. I think the luggage tag anyone can use. Would make a great affordable gift, they are cute plain or with a patch, and can go with any bag or suitcase someone may already own! Best overall gift I would say is the small pouch. It is a happy medium between mini and large and is a good starter item for someone new or for someone who has a collection! Can be used for lots of different reasons. For someone on a budget I would say the clear travel pouch is also a good option! They are super cute plain and $34 so under $40!

Q: Are you releasing any gift guides?
A: Yes! There will be Stoney Clover items mixed into a lot of my gift guides. But I will post a separate Stoney Clover gift guide before Saturday for gift ideas!

Q: Is it worth the price? What sets it apart?
A: I'm glad someone asked this question because I get it a lot! Not even just for Stoney Clover Lane but for other items. Here is my thing with Stoney Clover, the quality is amazing! I've had a billion makeup bags prior to really investing in Stoney Clover. They last you a year, they get all gross, then you throw them away and go get another one. I've had some of my Stoney Clover Lane bags/ pouches for 4 years and I still use them! If they are dirty you can wipe them down, the zippers are AMAZING, and overall they just hold up very well.  Prior to SCL I used a Vera Bradley makeup bag and it got so ratchet so quick. But, my SCL bags have held up. I have to mention that I travel A LOT. Normally I travel probably every other week for work and take a personal trip or vacation every three months. It really depends but on average. So my price per use is much lower. If you travel once every 5 years it may not be worth it. For my case I am constantly traveling, packing, and I have to be organized or I'm a mess! That is also another way I think it is worth the price. Again if you don't travel a ton that may be different for you personally! Also want to mention I never recommend buying something you can't afford. No matter what it is! At the end of the day none of us NEED these pouches. They are fun and help keep us organized but not a necessity. If you are on a budget I suggest starting with a clear travel pouch. It is their most affordable pouch and can be used a ton of different ways! Start there and see if you like the brand then go from there!

Q: Worried that things will sell out while I shop... any strategy you recommend for shopping?
A: Last year I believe they "shut the site down" right before the sale launched. But, I would make sure you know EXACTLY what you want going into the sale. Place any items you want in the cart the day before the sale in case your cart will still be there! I honestly don't know if it will but worth the try. Create a Stoney Clover account ahead of time and put in your shipping and billing info for easy checkout. I would also plan on shopping the sale right when it opens at 10am EST on Saturday November 7th. The earlier you shop the better. If you want items from limited edition collections I'd focus on those first. Core items are less likely to sell out, but still possible. Popular colors I feel like are: sand, noir, flamingo, grape, etc. So if you want those colors I'd also focus on those! If you are SUPER worried I would place two orders. Get your must haves in the first order then go back for more if needed. Obviously you will have to pay the shipping twice but that's a call to make on your end!

Q: Your fav custom designs! And the SCL you find yourself using the most.
A: I semi answered this already but my top used SCL items are: mini pouch, tote bag, fanny pack, and the clear travel pouch. I used my fanny a TON in the summer and when I first got it. It'll be harder to use now that I have to wear a giant parka. I use the tote bag to bring mail to the post office, if I have to run an errand, or for overnight trips! Mini pouch and clear travel pouch I use every time I travel. I have two travel pouches one for toiletries and one for makeup. Then the mini pouches I kind of already explained! But I'd say right now I use those four items the most. It is kind of always changing though!

As for my favorite custom designs you can see a ton of my design ideas below! Plus if you keep scrolling you can see some of my collection and how I've customized things. My go-to customization combo is usually always the varsity letter hearts, the rainbow pearl patch, or glitter varsity letters. I tend to keep things simple! I use my initials MP or MMP or just a single heart or rainbow. Also love placing patches in the far right lower corner. I feel like that is my signature if you look at some of my pouches!

Q: I'm new to SCL! What would you recommend for a first time buyer?
A: This is hard to answer but I can walk you through my progression!

            1) Started out with mini pouch and small pouch to start out. Those were my first two! To save money start without any patches. You can always add patches. But, saving on the embroidery is helpful and keep the pouches less expensive without the extra cost of patches.
            2) Next I'd recommend the clear pouches like the travel pouch or the mini clear open top from terry (there is minimal stock left in those though). I reach for those A LOT while traveling now.
            3) From there I'd go to either fanny pack or large pouch. I use my fanny A LOT but I feel like that is more personal if you like fanny packs or not. The large is good for a big makeup bag to hold everything.

But I find the small and a clear travel can also do the trick.
As a first time buyer I would say you can skip the flat pouches and backpacks. I don't use those as much. I have a lot of old flat pouches I hardly use but I am a hoarder and probably won't ever get rid of them! I think the backpacks are cute but not a NEED in my opinion when first starting out. Unless you really need a backpack for something! I do love the duffles though but they can get pricy. So to summarize my top recommendations for new buyers are mini and small pouches.

DESIGN INSPIRATION
Some of my past design inspiration collages are below! Lots of cute design ideas and things I would personally recommend. Most of these collections and items are available during the sale!

There are pieces available from both Loveshackfancy collaborations right now! From the above collection I got the pink floral ribbon mirror open top. But I got the pencil case, backpack, and luggage tag from the other LSF drop! I've linked items from both collections below.

Terry is still available with limited colors! Sea Glass and Surf color ways are mainly available.

These were my back to school ideas! Some great ideas for kids or for college students. Would make fun gifts for anyone younger in your life! Or for yourself, you do you.

One of my all time favorite collaborations with Stoney Clover! I went ham with this collection to say the least. For sure worth picking up some pieces if you are into Hello Kitty!

LELE SADOUGHI x SCL + HEADBAND STORAGE

For my Lele Sadoughi fans out there, wanted to touch on their collaboration. It WILL be included in the sale as far as I know. Which is amazing. I picked up one headband last year during the sale. It's a great time to pick them up. ALSO for my Lele Sadoughi or headband ladies, I use the Stoney Clover mirror open tops to store all of my headbands. Except ones that are not seasonally appropriate. You can see an example of it above! You can fit 6 headbands easily if you don't close them. Plus it is a fun way to display your headbands.

SNAPSHOTS OF MY COLLECTION
Here is a little snapshot of my Stoney Clover Lane collection! If you want to see more of my collection check out my IGTV videos. I made them earlier in quarantine so I have gotten more items since they have been filmed. But you can get an idea of what I have and use!

Okay friends, I think that is everything PHEW. That was a long post. If you made it this far THANK YOU. I try and make my posts as detailed as possible to help all of you! I love talking about brands and products I love. I hope this post has helped you put together your order or answer a question you may have been curious about! I am will also be posting a SCL gift guide based on current inventory so stay tuned!
