OOTD: Edgy Stripes

Surprise surprise I am wearing stripes! As you may know I have a severe stripe addiction. This shirt was on super clearance and was in my recent spring break blog haul!

I paired the striped tee with a fun denim vest and a pair of army green pants. This look is super comfortable but still put together. For accessories I wore my everyday watch, a stack of bracelets, and a fun statement necklace. This combination of pieces creates a fun but edgy look.

Also you may notice my new hair-do! I got three inches cut off and now my hair is super healthy and refreshed. I always feel like a new person once I get my hair cut. Its interesting figuring out how to work my new length when I'm styling it. But, my curls came out pretty well for the first try!

OOTD: Nautical Lovin

Today my outfit was pretty simple. But I got to wear my new coat I recently picked up shopping over break. It is a super fun bold red nautical inspired coat from J Crew. I just picked it up from the outlet for a steal! My outfit includes my favorite J Crew tee along with a simple pair of jeans and tall brown boots. I wore bold red lips and a pair of pearl studs to complete the look.

Boots: My Mom's (I borrow her shoes when I'm home...)
Coat: J Crew (bought at the outlet)

Blog Haul: Some Spring Break Purchases

Finally real shopping!
I love my school but Ames is a shopping desert. Without a great mall near campus my shopping is usually restricted to online. Which is good and all but I miss looking around in my favorite stores. So, as soon as I got home I took advantage of the shopping opportunities that came my way.
{WARNING: I went a little crazy}

These three sweaters are from Old Navy. I am going to return the pink and beige one on the end but it is super cute. Right now Old Navy has a lot of great nautical pieces for decent prices. So if you are a nautical fan like myself be sure to check out their spring stuff.

All of these shirts are from a variety of places. The purple shirt is a tunic style top I got from Dry Goods on super clearance. For only about $10 how can you pass it up? The blue oxford button down is from the Ralph Lauren Factory outlet store. It was a pretty good price (especially after my student discount!). I have this same shirt in white and I wear it almost every week. They are a great investment if you know you will wear them often. The bright turquoise polo is from the Brooks Brother's outlet store. I love the gingham collar detail that it has.

The shirt with the lipstick on it was on sale at Pacsun. It is actually part of the Kendall and Kylie collection they have. It is a crop top with an open back and is going to be a great paired with high waisted jeans for a night out. Then the last shirt is a simple striped tee from Old Navy which was only about $4!

All of these items were on clearance at Old Navy for super cheap! So be sure to check their clearance for good deals.

I scored these super cute Kate Spade earrings for a great price at their outlet!

Here are three shirts I picked up at J Crew. The striped and pink shirt are simple tees that were only $10 each! Then the blue shirt is a tunic that will make a great swimsuit cover up.

I love these type of J Crew skirts and I was lucky to find one on sale! It fits perfectly and this color will match a lot I think. Then I also picked up this fun pearl necklace from J Crew.

The last thing I got was this fun red J Crew coat. It is light but will make a great coat for the spring time. Also, I am loving its nautical touches.

Hope you enjoyed this haul!

Dr. Miranda: How to stay organized!

Organization is my new middle name! Recently I was sent this wonderful planner from my friends at Geneologie and I have been loving it ever since. This planner has anything and everything you could ever need in a planner. It has a lot of features of a normal planner but it just seems better. The quality is really great and I know it can last me the whole calendar year. My previous planner recently died on me (RIP blue Target planner) and it was perfect timing for this one to come in the mail.

This planner is from the brand Erin Condren. Her planners are super nice and I would HIGHLY suggest them. I am officially obsessed with mine. I literally write everything and anything in it. Mainly so I can remember to do homework assignments and to attend meetings. With a busy schedule my planner is basically my boyfriend (not really but people don't worry). But it does help me a load with keeping organized and on time with assignments. So if you are a college or high school student I assure you this planner is worth the money. Especially if you are as busy as I am!

Here is a peek at the set up. They have a page for each month. Then also it breaks down week by week. In the week section is breaks down each day by morning, afternoon, and night. So, you can have your whole day sectioned and organized.

The planner also has great features like a ruler, stickers, and a pouch in the back to hold whatever you may need. Also, the website lets you customize your planner in a bunch of different ways!

Comment below if you have any questions about my planner :)

Vickers Bows: The Serena Vanderwoodsen Bow

Sarah Vickers does it again...
I swear Sarah Vickers reads my mind. As you may know Gossip Girl is one of my obsessions. First they created the Blair Waldorf Vickers Bow and now they have one for Serena. Both are equally as cute so I am for sure going to try and get both! This one is super cute with a bright pink bow and a navy band. I could picture this matching a lot of what I wear because lets be honest I wear a lot of pink and navy!

OOTD: Warmer Weather

The weather is starting to warm up! Which means no tights, lighter jackets, and less layers. So, last week I took advantage of the warm weather with an outfit appropriate for the spring sun. I paired a simple denim button down with a flowy floral skirt. I accented the colors in the skirt with my fun statement necklace. For shoes I wore my favorite pair of camel brown booties from Target. I wore a fun pair of gold sparkle socks to accent the gold in the skirt. Overall, I cannot wait for more warm days and more outfits with less bulk!

Formal Ready Looks

Spring formals are coming around the corner! I recently had my formal last weekend. But, there are still many formals to come. So, the big question is what should you wear for a fabulous formal night?

Well, depending on your school you can go either more casual or very formal. At my school I would say it is in between more casual and formal. Most girls wore a fun cocktail dress and a great pair of heels. If your school is similar here are three looks that will be formal ready.

Edgy: Lets say your not the typical "sorority girl". Well, you can still rock studs and spikes at your formal. Wear a fun dress that has lots of cut outs. This will create a cool and unique look. Pair your dress with a bold and punk statement necklace for a different type of "glam". For shoes, pick something with a metallic and some straps. If you want to carry a clutch carry a fun spiked one. With all of these components you will for sure stand out at your formal.

Girly: But, what if you are a super feminine girly girl? Well, formal will be a piece of cake! For a fun girly look stick with a fun silhouette. Something that hugs your waist tight will be super flattering. This dress also has a fun stripe pattern. But, if you want to keep things more simple find a solid color frock. For accessories find a cute pair of bold earrings that match your dress. Then for shoes wear a fun pair of pumps. These black ones have a fun bow accent that no girly girl could resist.

Boho: If boho is more your scene try and find a fun lace number. This one has a unique sleeve cut out detail so it adds an extra special touch. For accessories find a fun rhinestone head band to wear across your head. Add a stack of bangles and stud earrings for extra sparkle. Then for shoes wear a strappy sandal with thicker straps.

Spring Must Haves: Shoes

Spring is here! Well at least it feels like that here in Ames. So here are some spring shoes that you have to get your hands on.

Jonathan Alder TOMS: The TOMS are so adorable! I love the chevron pattern and the bold colors. These would be super fun to pair with shorts or jeans on a spring or even summer day.
Pointy Toe Flat: I have noticed a lot of pointy toe flats for this season. These jelly flats are cute and are a great neutral shoe to have. Pair these with a fun skirt or dress on a warm day for a super fun look.
Fun Espadrille: Espadrilles are a major shoe trend this season. Whether they are flats or heels the espadrille is the way to go. I really like this sea foam green pair from Nordstrom!

Neutral Wedge Sandal: Every girl needs a neutral pair of wedges. These ones have both brown and white which will go with anything you may have in your closet!
Strappy Sandal: I am loving these strappy sandals! These would be perfect for wearing around campus in the spring. And they are gold so I automatically love them.

Preppy Diaries: Navy and Purple

This outfit includes many of my recent favorite pieces. This navy and purple dress is surprisingly from the J Crew kids section! My motto is if it fits and it is on sale buy it! I picked this up at the J Crew outlet for only around $20. So how can you not get it? But it is a super fun pattern and has accent zippers on the sides. I paired the dress with simple brown tights and tall brown boots. For accessories I wore one of my favorite J Crew necklaces that accents the blue and the purple in the dress. Overall, I love this preppy look!
