Preppy Diaries: Mint and Chevron

OOTD: Mint and Chevron

The Outfit: This outfit is very J Crew inspired. I paired a black and white chevron top with mint green chino pants. Accessorizing with a fringe fan statement necklace and small bow touches I wanted to show off my ultra girly side. I would call this look chic and classic with a fun twist. The purple heels add a little bit of quirk to the otherwise very classic look. Overall, I love everything about this look!

OOTD: Classic Edgy

September 19th, 2013:

The Outfit: Today I kept things relatively edgy. I paired this burn out high low skirt with a staple denim vest. Accessories included a gold chain necklace, arm candy, and tope ankle booties. Overall, I wanted the look to be chic but still have a hardness. Ankle booties are a great way to add a little chicness into a more rough look.

OOTD: Oxfords and Iced Coffee

September 18th, 2013:

The Outfit: Plot twist the weather has changed yet again! Today in Ames it was 80 plus degrees out. So, it's back to shorts and tank tops. I paired this crop top tank with a bright blue bandeau underneath. Along with that I wore a pair of black textured high waisted shorts. The main focus of my outfit was my robin egg blue oxfords.

OOTD: How I Style Rain Boots

September 17th, 2013:

The Outfit: Ames was a super dreary and rainy day this Tuesday. Practically every girl on campus took advantage of the first "rainy" day. I pulled out my hunter rain boots and I was ready for the day ahead. My outfit included an oversize fuzzy sweater from Nordstrom. It has pockets and a zipper detail. Along with that I wore a simple black skirt and tank top. High cream knee socks peeked out of my rain boots for an extra detail. To complete the look I wore a edgy fringe statement necklace. This look was not only comfy but I thought it was still cute at the same time.

Online Shopping Must Sees!

Since I have been at college I have found a new love of online shopping. To be completely honest Iowa has a lack of any good stores, at least near my school that is. So, I have turned to online shopping for new and exciting pieces because I am used to hopping into my car and being no more then an hour away from amazing shopping.

An amazing accessory place I have discovered is www.silverlingingsshop.com. Their shipping is reasonable along with their prices! I got two amazing statement necklaces for around $24 including shipping. My friend from my floor introduced me to the website and I had to get these two amazing necklaces.

The two necklaces I purchased:

The Fan Fringe necklace in purple. It is inspired by a J Crew necklace. Click here to see it!

Also, I purchase the Flower Bud necklace in Mint. Click here to see it! This necklace comes in so many different colors so there is sure to be something for you!

Overall, the website is super cute and has some great deals. So be sure to check out the Silver Linings Shops website!

OOTD: Black and Gold

September 16th, 2013:

The Outfit: Today it finally got cold enough to wear layers! Thank you weather gods. So, I wore a denim button down layered with a cardigan paired with these super cute high waisted sailor style shorts. My accessories include a a statement necklace, knee high black socks, and gold ballet flats. Also seeing how I woke up late I decided to go with a topknot to have a simple and quick look.

OOTD: Lace and Collars

September 12th, 2013:

The Outfit: I'm wearing a pair of lace high waisted shorts with a simple grey v-neck. Of course a statement necklace is a must! So I wore this color necklace in gold. Also I wore my cat eye glasses, which yes actually are prescription. I finished the look off with a topknot, rose gold sandals, and pearl earrings.

OOTD: What I Wore To An Interview

OOTD: What I Wore To An Interview

As you may have guessed I'm not the dress slacks and a blazer type of girl. I had an interview for a club a few days ago and I thought I would show you my business professional wear.

The Outfit: My outfit consisted of a few basic pieces with really bold pieces. The first bold piece was a lime green pencil skirt. It has a peplum detail and is very Coco Chanel if you ask me. With a sparkly hint to the fabric it adds a little something extra without being obnoxious. I paired this bold skirt with a simple peter pan color top and a black blazer. Along with that I paired a Topshop statement necklace. The piece adds a bit of edge to the "sexy secretary" look. Then to finish the look off I wore my bright purple heels. These heels are not only comfortable but also very retro and chic. Of course, I had to throw in my glasses because they really do make me look smarter.

The Ultimate #OOTD

September 11th, 2013:

The Outfit: This shirt basically describes my life. Many of you know I do OOTDs every single day for the most part. So obviously this muscle tank is perfect for me. I styled the muscle tank with a bright blue lace bandeau underneath. The blue pops out and adds a special touch to the look. Also I paired the black and white top with a black and white striped patterned skirt. This skirt is unique in the fact that it isn't your typical striped pattern. Overall, the look was fun and comfortable for the hot Ames weather.

OOTD: School Spirit | Without a T-shirt

September 13th, 2013:

The Outfit: I am not the biggest fan of wearing a t-shirt around. But, this weekend is the Iowa State vs Iowa game. So basically the biggest weekend of college for us at Iowa State. So, I had to show my school spirit in some way. I chose to wear this denim button down shirt with bright red skinny jeans. Along with that I paired a yellow flower statement necklace. Together red and yellow are our school colors. So if you like me and you don't like t-shirts recreate this look with your school colors!

All you need is......
  1. Colored skinny jeans that represent your school.
  2. A statement necklace in a different school color.
  3. Then just a basic top!
This look is super simple and would be perfect for game day or around campus. Remember you are not obligated to wear a t-shirt. Dress up and have fun when it comes to school spirit!

OOTD: Bleached Beauty

September 10th, 2013:

The Outfit: Today's outfit I kept super simple. It is still in the 90s in Ames which I am totally not used to. So, I just wore this super fun bleached denim dress with great accessories. The look is very simple but still cute and a little bit edgy. My favorite part about this dress is the amazing pockets because lets be honest, every girl loves a dress with pockets. I paired the dress with a statement necklace with black and silver details. Also, it has a super cute bow in the center.
