Sew Cute

A few weekends ago I went on a trip to the city to celebrate my birthday with my boyfriend! We had a fabulous day filled with shopping, food, and exploring the city. 

For my outfit, I kept things simple with my typical summer look. I paired a bright blue Polo button down with these adorable lavender chino shorts. To tie the two colors together I wore a bold J Crew statement necklace that has blue, purple, and orange tones. For my shoes I kept things comfortable because a trip to Chicago requires a lot of walking. My arm candy of the day included my usual Henri Bendel watch, Kendra Scott cuff, and Alex and Ani bangles.

To start the day off we spent an hour or so walking around Millennium park. They had so many gorgeous flowers everywhere! I couldn't help but snap a few photos. Also, while we were in the park we took a few photos that turned out perfect. We were lucky to have great weather while we were down there. 

For the first meal of the day we stopped at Shake Shack just off Michigan Ave. Since I ate there in DC a few years ago it has been my favorite place to get a burger! Jeremy had never been so I knew I had to take him. I always get a hamburger with shack sauce, fries, and their signature chocolate custard with brownie, fudge, and other delicious bits. 

After Shack Shake we shopped around Michigan Ave. We stopped in Water Tower, J Crew, Kate Spade, and a few other places. Then we decided to take a break and pick up a sprinkles cupcake. We ended up splitting a milk chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting. 

After we went to Sprinkles we were debating on where to go next. Then, we saw a few girls walking towards us with Vineyard Vines bags. Naturally I start practically running down the street to find the new Vineyard Vine Chicago store! Jeremy andI are huge fans so naturally it was a big moment. We ended up doing some MAJOR damage but we were very excited to get to visit a store.

After shopping at Vineyard Vines we made two more stops at Brooks Brothers (for Jeremy) and at Nordstrom to pick out a new watch! Then we wondered around until it was time for dinner. We ate at my favorite Italian restaurant Volare. If you are ever near Michigan Ave. I highly suggest it! It's delicious! 

To complete the perfect day I FINALLY got a pink whale hat from Vineyard Vines! I have been wanting one of these since I was introduced to the brand and now I finally have one. I was pretty excited about it for something that was free.... But none the less thats off the bucket list!

As some of you may know my birthday was a little while back. I thought I would do a re-cap on my fabulous birthday weekend. The weekend began on my birthday which was on a Friday. We started off the day with breakfast with a few of my friends at home along with my friend Mariah from Chambery and Champagne. After a lovely breakfast at my favorite local spot Mariah and I headed downtown Naperville to do some shopping. We stopped at Sephora, Anthropologie, and J Crew. After we did some damage we headed to dinner at On the Border which is one of my favorite restaurants. After dinner with my family and friends we headed back to my house for presents and brownies (not a big cake fan). 

The next morning we grabbed coffee with my friend Allie to catch up. Then we had lunch at Five Guys. We feasted on burgers and delicious fries. Once we wrapped up lunch we hung around and waited to go to dinner at my all time favorite place the Melting Pot. The Melting Pot is a fabulous fondue restaurant. When I go there we get cheese and chocolate fondue along with an entree and salad. Once you are done you are stuffed! But it is so worth it. 

I wore this adorable Lilly for Target maxi dress to dinner at the Melting Pot. It is super comfortable and colorful! 

I got these gorgeous flowers in my favorite color for my birthday from my boyfriend! He's the best.

Mixing prints in the summer time is so fun! I love mixing cute patterned tees with fun shorts. This look combines a stripe print along with an adorable palm tree tee. These striped chambray shorts are patterned but they are a great neutral piece that practically go with anything. To pick up more chambray in the look I wore my J Crew Sperry Topsiders that are made of a light chambray material. I love these Sperry's because they have small embroidered anchors on them which make them the perfect shoe for summer. 

To accessorize this look I stuck with gold accessories. I wore a simple gold belt, a whimsical statement necklace, along with my Alex and Ani bangles. In addition I wore my KJP pearl bracelet to add an extra nautical touch to the look.

Yesterday was National Wear Lilly day aka the first day of summer! For the special occasion I kept things casual with this Lilly for Target blouse. My actual Lilly dress is very formal so it wasn't exactly made for a lazy day and seeing a movie. 

Yesterday I saw the newest Disney flick Inside Out. To say it was adorable was an understatement! I loved it! I mean normally I love all Disney movies but this one was just too cute. The story line is great and it makes you feel a lot of emotions, naturally because the characters are emotions. I'm not going to lie I cried three times because it was so cute and sad. Also, it was kind of nostalgic and reminded me of my younger years. (Wow I'm 20 and I already feel old this kind of sucks..)

For a casual movie date I wore a pair of dark wash jeans and this adorable Lilly for Target blouse. I always wear jeans when going to a movie theater because they are always freezing! Even if it is super hot outside I highly recommend bringing a sweater or jacket into the theater to keep you warm. To complete the look I wore my Jack Rogers sandals and stacked bracelets.

Friday was my 20th birthday! The day was filled with friends and family and a lot of food. To start off the day I went to breakfast with my friends Mariah, Maureen, and Cathleen at my favorite local spot. Then Mariah and I got massages at my chiropractor office for a little relaxation. After that we got ready and went shopping downtown Naperville. We scooped up a few great things from J Crew, Sephora, and Anthropolgie. Then we completed our shopping trip at the Victoria Secret semi-annual sale! P.s. currently their sale bras are an extra 25% off in stores so go hit that up! 

After spending too much money we got dinner with my family, my two aunts, Mariah, and Maureen. We ate at one of my favorites On the Border. When the waiters sang to me they wished me a happy 21st birthday. The rest of the night we joked that I turned 21 instead of 20! It was nice to have dinner with my friends and family and to celebrate another stylish year. 

For my birthday look I wore this adorable lace romper I just picked up from Francesca's. It was on sale for around $25 which is a pretty good deal. It has a v-neck and a lower back with thicker straps. I paired it with a bold statement necklace from Baublebar which I picked up from the Nordstrom anniversary sale last year. To dinner I wore BCBG heels but to go around town and shop I wore my go-to sandals of the moment. I am obsessed with these rhinestone sandals from Target. For only $22 they are a great deal!
