OOTD: Preppy + Boho

Some days I like to add a special little touch to my preppy and classic look. To switch things up a little bit, I wore these fun trapeze pants from Aerie. These are super comfortable and a great light weight pant for the spring or summer.  I think it i important to change up your style every once and a while. It keeps things interesting and not a boring!

For this look I paired these trapeze pants with this adorable anchor sleeveless top. This top is super light weight which is great for a steamy humid spring day. I love how the top features a gold small anchor print. Anything with a nautical touch I love! This top is also great to dress up or down. Pair it with a pair of jean shorts or chino shorts for a casual look. Or pair it with a fun skirt and jean jacket for a more dressy look.

When it came to accessories I stuck with my favorite metal gold. Jack Rogers sandals are my go-to in the spring and summer. They are comfortable and of course add a preppy touch to any look. I also stacked on a bunch of bracelets in this look. In honor of my soon London adventure I wore my "Meet Me At My London Flat" bangle which I received as a gift a few years ago. In addition, I also wore my KJP pearl bracelet along with a few Alex and Ani bangles.

Where it's from:
Shirt: J Crew
Pants: Aerie
Shoes: Jack Rogers
Rings: Kate Spade and Tiffany & Co.
Bracelets: Alex and Ani, KJP, and Brighton
Watch: Daniel Wellington
Earrings: Kate Spade
Necklace: Kate Spade

OOTD: Let's hear it for the boys

Sometimes it's nice to just sit back and relax. What better way to be relaxed then be cozy in a men's shirt. Side note: why are boy clothes way more comfortable? It's not fair. But, this look defiantly achieves a comfortable chic style. For a day of running errands, loafing on the coach (and binge watching HGTV), and a chiropractor appointment this look is perfect.

I paired a simple jean short with this awesome Brooks Brothers rugby style shirt. While I was at the outlet mall the other day I ventured into the Brooks Brothers store. I got this shirt from the men's section for only $16! I'm actually obsessed with it. It's so comfortable and I think actually really cute. Surprisingly a men's XS is a thing and it fit perfectly! At the outlet mall I also picked up two J Crew linen skirts, two Ralph Lauren oxford shirts, and a J Crew rain jacket. Also, I got a new backpack for school and study abroad. Be on the look out for post on it closer to back-to-school.

These are my mom's sneakers but I am obsessed with them. They are a canvas material and have the adorable leather ties. I have a feeling I will be stealing these a lot.

My small Michael Kors purse is ideal for running small errands. It fits my purse, a lip balm, and some cash or credit cards which is all I need when I'm running around.

Ironically my Vineyard Vines hat matches my shirt perfectly! I always buy something then come home and find that a bunch of my existing pieces match it. Kind of weird, but hey it works out.

 Where it's from:
Rugby shirt: Brooks Brothers (men's section)
Shorts: American Eagle
Hat: Vineyard Vines
Shoes: Sperry Topsider
Purse: Michael Kors
Watch: Henri Bendel
Bracelets: Alex and Ani & Henri Bendel

My bracelet stack of the day features two of my favorites from Henri Bendel. Both of these pieces are perfect neutral accessories for any look. And of course, I completed the stack with three Alex and Ani bracelets.

Do you ever wear boy clothes with a feminine touch? Let me know how in the comments!

Advice to High School Graduates

As the school year is coming to a close high school and college students begin to graduate. Although I don't know a lot about graduating college, as I am only a sophomore, I know a thing or two about leaving high school.

I have to admit, I wasn't the biggest fan of high school. From mean girls to just bad luck I didn't breeze through it by any means. So, I have to say I was happy to check out and start a new life at college.

But, one thing that is hard is leaving all of your friends behind. My friends from high school go to school back home, in Tennessee, and in Boston. As you may imagine I have first hand experience in long distance friendships. My biggest advice to people graduating and having friends going all over the country is to stay in touch. I know shocking! But in all seriousness, keeping in touch by calling, texting, and skyping is so easy in today's age. So, don't stress about loosing touch! And honestly, if you are that good of friends the distance won't matter.

Also, don't be afraid to take a leap and go somewhere were you don't know anyone. I went to Iowa State only knowing three people (very well). To be honest, going somewhere where I didn't know a lot of people was probably the best thing I have ever done. Starting fresh was easier when I didn't feel trapped in high school. Don't be afraid to branch out. Yes it can be scary, and yes some people will have all of their friends from high school by their side. But, the best way to branch out is to go off the beaten path. And if you do go to a school with people from high school, don't be afraid to meet new people. Sure you can keep your old friends but be sure to make new ones! College is an amazing place to meet so many different types of people. Coming to Iowa State I met people from graduating classes of 24 while I graduated with 1,000! It's nice to meet people with different backgrounds and different experiences. It gives you a chance to learn more about what's out there.

Oh and one more thing, take in every moment. My old coach always taught us to take snapshots of your life. Take a moment and take in everything that is around you. Someone once said, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." As cheesy as it is, it's so true. While you are at graduation, prom, a senior brunch, or graduation be sure to just stop and take it in. You only graduate high school once, you will only be with your classmates all at once in those last moments. So, don't rush through it, be sure to savior every moment. Let your mom take those dorky pictures of you, because I can assure you, you will want them later.

So, congrats class of 2015 you did it. You survived. Now, you just have to survive college.
Good luck.

SOREL: Back-to-school

To survive my winters at Iowa State, I always wear my SOREL winter boots. They are not only stylish but also super warm and comfortable. For trekking around in the snow they are the ideal shoe. Here are a few of my favorite shoes from SOREL right now:

All three of these shoes serve different purposes in your school year. The textured boots are a great boot to wear in the fall to keep your feet warm around campus. The snow boots are obviously ideal for the winter moths on campus. Then the booties are great for any time of the year. Booties are my go-to shoe on the weekends when I'm out with friends or you could wear them to class for a chic look.

Sorel is doing an awesome style contest right now on Instagram and Youtube. If you post a stylish video of your back-to-school look you could have the chance to win a $2.5k scholarship, a pair of SOREL boots, and a photo shoot styled by the costume designer from HBO's Girls. Pretty nice prize package right? So, what are you waiting for? Be sure to enter the #SORELstyleMEcontest.

Click here to see a sample entry from my Instagram account. I feature an adorable printed shirt from J Crew and my favorite J Crew linen skirt. Also, I threw a jean jacket from American Eagle over for a casual comfortable look. I added bright pink accessories to add an extra pop of color. Here are a few photos from my back to school look......

Goodie Bag

On shopbando.com they recently had goodie bags where you could get a surprise package of some of their products. I had never gotten anything from shopbando.com so I thought this would be a fun way to see some of their products (and get a little more for my money). My surprise goodie bag featured mostly hair products which I love. I got three skinny headbands, soft hair ties, a flower clip that can also be a pin, a wire head band wrap, and a iPhone crossbody bag. Not to mention every bag came with a fun bag of confetti! I can't wait to use it in future posts or for my birthday.

Here are a few fun pictures of what I got in my goodie bag!

I am in love with this adorable flower pin. I think it will be a great accessory to add to a simple blazer or to a cardigan to add an extra pop of color.

Did you get a shopbando.com goodie bag? Tweet pictures to me at @Mirberry_ if you did!
