5 Quick Finals Study Breaks

Finals are the worst time of the year. Your knowledge is tested and you are scrambling to make notecards, finish final projects, and write huge essays. All your classes are dying down, you have to say goodbye to your friends, and there are no parties going on (at least at my school...). So, how can you tackle your finals week without loosing any hair or any sanity? Well, it is hard not to do both but here are some of my favorite study breaks that you should try during your finals week!

1. Watch a Youtube video! I may be a Sarahbelle addict, but a Youtube video is a great way to take a quick 3 min break. You can either watch a music video of your favorite artist, watch a movie trailer for a new release you are dying to see, or watch a good old beauty guru video. Simply watch 1-3 videos for a quick roughly 10 min break. [I don't suggest watching Jenna Marbles for your breaks because they are too addicting and you will most likely watch all of them in one sitting.]

2. Take a food break. My head is always on food and when I'm hungry I cannot focus! So grab some lunch or dinner at the dinning center for a quick brain break. Not to mention you have to re-fuel. Or grab some food with some friends. During finals this year my big and I went to a sit down restaurant with some friends and it was a great break from the books. And the mexican food was so tasty!

3. Take a nap (A short one!). Sometimes you do need a quick cat nap. Just make sure this "nap" isn't a three hour one. Set multiple alarms to assure you wake up. Or have a friend check up on you to make sure you are awake.

4. Go workout. Working out is a great break and stress reliever. Hit the gym for a hour work out to take a break from staring at a computer or textbook. Also, if you make flash cards for a class bring them with. You may look silly but biking and studying is not to complicated.

5. Call a friend. If you are feeling stressed and just need to chat with someone, call a friend who goes to another school. Catching up will not only give you a break but it will make you feel better.

Good luck on your finals!

Preppy Diaries: Embroidered Tunic

Another preppy outfit of the day post is here! Recently my style has been super preppy and chic. This outfit is no exception. It features an embroidered white tunic and a bold tortoise shell necklace. I paired the tunic with a pair of simple brown flats and my typical accessories. For underneath I wore a navy romper that I picked up from Forever 21. It is a part of their new basics collection and will be great for layering in the future. Overall, this look is super relaxed and easy to wear.

Preppy Diaries: Neon and Navy

This outfit is one of my favorite looks I have worn in a while! It features three of my favorite new pieces. One being this bright neon button down shirt from J Crew. Its such a fun piece and I will be wearing it a lot this spring and summer. Another new piece I have been loving is my J Crew seersucker loafers. They feature a fun anchor to give an extra nautical touch. Also, my new Baublebar necklace is a great new piece. I can picture it going with a lot of fun summer dresses. All together this look is super fun, bright, and preppy.

Preppy Diaries: Floral Fun

The normal college student would dress down for finals week. But, I believe in the "look good feel good philosophy". If I'm in a dress or skirt maybe I will be less likely to fall asleep in my 7:30 am final.... actually I probably would still fall asleep. However, I would be dressed up and cute doing it!

This look incorporates one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe right now. It is a tank skirt from J Crew. This skirt literally matches everything and it is super comfortable and practical. I paired it with a linen J Crew tee with a fun floral print on it. To accent the floral print I wore a bold flower statement necklace. It adds a bunch of color along with some texture. To keep myself warm I wore a green cargo jacket. This is one of my go-to pieces if I need a light jacket for the spring weather. Other accessories I wore include Kate Spade bow earrings and my favorite pair of Sperry's.

OOTD: New Baubles

On this lovely warm day of spring I had an interview for my universities fashion magazine Trend. I am happy to announce that I am the new Accessories Director for the fall 2014 issue! This is a huge opportunity and I cannot wait to think of a concept and start planning my fall shoot.

So, now for the outfit. I wore a super fun tulle skirt with a simple black tank. I recently picked up this skirt form a local boutique when I was in the Davenport area for Easter. The skirt is super comfy and not to mention super fun! Who doesn't love a midi tulle skirt? Very Sarah Jessica Parker inspired. For accessories I wore another recent purchase of mine, new bauble bar dangle earrings. These earrings were only $10 from their huge sale they recently had. I am basically obsessed with them! They are a great neutral earring that I think I will be able to wear a lot. I also accessorized with a fun BCBG bracelet and a gold skinny belt along with my typical everyday jewelry picks.

Trend Magazine Release Party

Trend Magazine: Spring 2014
A few weeks ago I had the Trend magazine release party. Trend is a student run magazine on my college's campus. I currently serve as the In-Studio assistant on the exec board. I am super proud of how my shoot turned out. It is everything that I could have wanted!

The Trend release party consists of pictures, fashion, and fun and it is when the magazine is officially released to everyone! This was also the first time that I had seen my spread for the magazine. It was super fun to take pictures and to visit with everyone.

My Pi Beta friends representing at the release party! Eileen (right) my grand big is the Trend for Men editor and my best friend Cassidy (left) is the new accessories assistant for the fall 2014 issue!

Our wonderful Pi Phi friend Kaitlyn was a model in the fashion show at the release party. She of course looks gorgeous in this green floral dress.

OOTD:

For my outfit of the day I wore a fun and bright coral pink dress. It has accents of white lace which adds a super feminine touch. For accessories I wore a bold statement necklace because my dress was more simple. My heels are just a basic pair of nude pumps. I added a hint of coral with my bracelet from J Crew. Overall, this look made me feel like I was going to a tea party but in a very good and chic way.

OOTD: Plaid With Denim

Am I Bruno Mars? Maybe....
This outfit is a little hipster but also a little preppy. I combined a fun pair of multi colored plaid shorts with a short sleeve denim button down shirt. The shirt also features a peter pan collar detail. For accessories i wore a rope style white belt along with a fun fedora style hat. Basically when I wore this outfit I felt like I could be on a beach. But sadly I am still in crummy Iowa. However I am loving this somewhat preppy hipster ensemble!
