Preppy Tag!

What's your definition of preppy?
My definition of preppy is anything that is girly or southern inspired. Being from the midwest I have never been exposed to hardcore preppy girls. But recently, my style has been evolving into more of a preppy style. I think being preppy means you like to wear fun and bright pieces. At the same time preppy style incorporates a lot of classics like pearls and simple silhouettes.

What's your all time favorite brand?
My all time favorite brand would have to be J Crew. If you look through my ootd posts you can see almost everything I wear is form J Crew. It is such a great brand because it has classic things mixed with really fun and colorful pieces. Basically it has been my obsession for a while so for sure I would say J Crew! For accessories and purses Kate Spade is my go-to brand. Almost all of my purses and jewelry are from there. I love Kate Spade for cute and girly pieces.

What is your favorite Lilly print?
My favorite Lilly Pulitzer print is the mint print or the mint julep drink print! I think it is so cute and I love the colors!

Favorite preppy YouTuber?
By far my favorite YouTuber is Sarahbelle93x. I used to be HUGE into watching Youtube beauty gurus, but now I don't watch them as often. But, I still watch Sarahbelle religiously because she is basically perfect!

Jack Rogers or Sperrys?
I can't choose! But I have an insane amount of Sperrys so I would have to choose Sperrys. However, I think Jack Rogers are the perfect shoe for summer/ spring.

Jeans or Khakis?
Jeans for sure! I have one pair of khakis and the last time I wore them I got confused for a Target employee.... so I think I will stick with jeans!

Duck Boots, Riding Boots or Hunters?
Riding or Hunters for sure. I love my Hunter rain boots because my campus is bipolar and it always changing weather. Hunters are great for the snow and rain so they are very versatile. But, I love my pair of Michael Kors brown riding boots. In the fall and winter I wear them basically everyday. So riding boots and Hunters are for sure tied.

Navy or Black?
Personally I am more of a black then navy person. But, I for sure like brown the best! Usually I wear more brown and black then navy. However, I am starting to get more navy pieces so who knows I might change my preferences :).

On a scale of 1-10 how much do you love J.Crew?
This scale does not describe my love for J Crew! I listed it as my favorite brand earlier so I think that explains it all.

Favorite Ralph Lauren clothing item?
Ralph Lauren button downs are a major basic piece for me. I have a white and a blue one and I wear them all the time. They are great to pair with more patterned pieces or with bold jewelry. If you don't have at least one you need to invest in one!

Pearls or bows?
For sure pearls. I wear a pearl necklace, earrings, or a bracelet basically every day! I love the classic look that pearls has. Also, they go with everything because they are so neutral.

OOTD: Rainy Day Chic

It's raining its pouring.....
So basically, it was super crummy earlier this week! It was snowing/ raining in April.. like why can't it be nice and warm? I took advantage of the rain and busted out my black Hunter rain boots. I paired them with a pair of black polka dots pants with a bright red top. For accessories I wore a bold black statement necklace along with my black monogram baseball cap.

This look is super preppy yet fun. It made my rainy day a little less sucky....

Dr. Miranda: Surviving College Part 1

Tips for surviving college:
College is a super fun and exciting time. However, things can get overwhelming fast. Whether it is clubs, sorority, classes, or friendships college is always throwing you a curve ball. I may have only been in college for a little over a semester. But, I have been through a lot and also learned a lot. I am giving you my inside tips and tricks to surviving college. Not to mention I will tell you my college essentials that every college girl needs.

How to survive college part one: what you will need
There are a few things that you will need to help you survive your time through college.
  1. A vest: Every girl needs some type of vest. Whether it be a $30 one from Old Navy or a J Crew excursion vest, these come super in handy. Not only are they cute but they are great for layering. If you don't need a coat throw on a sweatshirt or sweater and layer on a vest. This will keep you warm without you dying of heat.
  2. An infinity scarf: Scarves in general will be your best friend. If you plan on going somewhere cold it is imperative that you wear scarfs! This will prevent you from being freezing while walking to classes. When I wouldn't wear a scarf I would be extra cold while going to class. So be sure to bring a lot of cute scarfs to wear around campus. Also, in general they are a great accessory.
  3. Fun sneakers: I know working out doesn't always seem appealing. You get lazy and tired and just unmotivated. However, with a fun pair of tennis shoes you may be more likely to work out (maybe results are NOT guaranteed). Having a fun pair of shoes for the gym makes working out a little more fun.
  4. Colorful felt tip pens: These pens are super great for note taking and organizing your planner. I am huge in color coding so naturally these are my best friend. You can pick a color for each subject in your planner or designate colors for vocab and other topics in your notes. In general these will save you and keep you organized!
  5. Yoga pants or leggings: I am not the biggest fan of yoga pants. However, I have found myself wearing them more and more as college goes on. I mainly wear them to the gym. If you join a sorority you will have a variety of different events like lip sync, varieties, or whatever your individual campus does. Yoga pants are great for these practices because they keep you covered and you won't trip on them! (If I wear sweatpants I will trip because I am just a shorty.)
  6. Concealer: When I get stressed I break out. So, basically that is all the time in college. Concealer will be your best friend when a random break out surprises you in the morning.
  7. Post-it notes: Post it notes are great reminders. Whether it is a to-do list or a reminder you can stick them in your planner, on your desk, or around your room. These will keep you on the ball and help you remember things. Often times I find myself forgetting little things if I don't write them down.
  8. A backpack: I know. Sometimes backpacks can be dorky. BUT I warn you now, you will probably die without a backpack. I find myself lugging not only a laptop but books and other materials on a daily basis. Without my backpack I honestly don't know how I would carry all of my things to class. Try and find a backpack that has a laptop sleeve and has a cute pattern or color.
  9. Rain boots: I repeat YOU NEED rain boots. Any rain boots are better then no rain boots trust me! My campus gets a lot of rain so my rain boots have come super in handy. Whether you get Hunters or another brand rain boots are a great investment.
  10. Planner: This may be one of the most important college essentials. A planner is your key to success. Get in the habit of writing everything and everything down. You will be surprised how busy you get and how easy it is to forget things. Having a planner will keep you on to top of everything from tests, clubs, and homework.
  11. Highlighters: Highlighters are a great essential to have. They will help you with your notes or organizing your planner. I tend to highlight basically everything so these are super important for me. They are just one more way to stay organized.

OOTD: Vintage Dots

Today's outfit features one of my recent purchases a pink polka dot blouse. It's super cute and was on clearance for only $9! I paired the top with my favorite pair of Topshop shorts. To keep my legs warm I put on a pair of black tights.

Accessories for the look included a big chunky statement necklace that accents the black and pink in the shirt. Also, I wore my favorite Hunter rain boots so I can dodge the giant puddles on campus.

Overall, the look is super vintage and cute. I love how polka dots mix with the pattern in the shorts. It creates a nice look as a whole.

Styling Hunter Rain Boots

So for some reason I love the way that a vest, button down, and rain boots look together. (this is totally tumblr inspired) But there is a cheap way to do it and a more expensive way. The look on the left is the deal look. Simply wear a plaid shirt you have, get a puffy vest from a store like Old Navy, and get a pair of cheap rain boots. You can get the same look as wearing a pair of real Hunters.

The splurge look features more expensive pieces. A rhinestone collared shirt, a J Crew vest, and Madewell pants are featured in this look. Also, a classic pair of black Hunters. Overall, the look is more chic and dressy then the deal option.

Deal:
Shirt: American Eagle
Jeans: American Eagle
Vest: Old Navy
Rain Boots: DSW
Necklace: Forever 21

Splurge:
Shirt: J Crew
Vest: J Crew
Pants: Madewell
Boots: Hunters

{Can I have them all?}

Dresses + Rain Boots

Hunters go with everything! Pair it them with a cute dress and tights to make your rainy day a little brighter.
