Preppy Diaries: Plaid and Necklace Fun
July 26th, 2013:
In exactly one month I will be at my first day of college classes...... HOLY CRUD where did the summer go???
In regardless, I have the usual OOTD for you part of my Preppy Diaries series. Just me pretending I'm from the land of Vineyard Vines, Lilly Pulitzer, and monogram everything.
The Outfit:
The weather was super weird and cloudy all day today. But, I kept things light and airy with just a simple denim shirt (a major staple piece for me) and a plaid skirt. The waist is elastic with a tie band and it has buttons all down the front. Also, the great thing with this skirt is has pockets which is good to keep your phone in. Keeping with the preppy theme I wore my J Crew necklace paired with a longer monogram necklace I just got today actually. Finishing everything off with Pearl studs and curls, the usual.

Teen Vogue Fun | Vera Wang Princess Package

I recently entered a Teen Vogue contest to win a Revlon nail art party. I have won these types of parties before (I plan on doing a post about them coming up soon) so of course I entered just to see if I could get the opportunity again.
Well, first I should explain where I get these "opportunities". When you sign up at teenvogueitgirls.com you basically get emails/ updates on contests or things you can enter to win free stuff or you can take part in polls and other things of that sort. Previously I had won a Teen Vogue 10 year anniversary party. So, I hosted a party with a few of my friends celebrating 10 years of Teen Vogue. Then, later on I also won a party with Revlon where my friends and I got to try out a bunch of new nail polish. But, I will go more in depth about each party when I make those posts.
Anyways, I entered to win the party but they said all the spots were taken. However they would like to send me a Vera Wang prize package containing their new perfume. Of course I was on board and excited to try out the new perfume. I went to Khols a few days later on a whim and I saw the perfume they were sending me. When I smelled it I instantly love it! So I was even more excited to get it in the mail. Then I learn they were adding other goodies into the package. Basically things went from cool to amazing instantly. I will stop talking now and show you what I got.
I made a "unboxing" video if you want to see my reactions/ see me struggle to open the box.
The package came in this super adorable pink box. My favorite part being the Teen Vogue address label. All the items where also wrapped in pink and black sparkly tissue paper. Along with white tissue paper that said Teen Vogue all over it (idk I thought that was cool). Then there was sparkly basically Easter basket grass. I'm not sure what the technical term for that is so we will go with Easter basket grass.
On the left is the box for the new perfume Pink Princess. The packaging is super cute and fun. Also very girly which of course I am ALL for. Then they also threw in a current issue of Teen Vogue. I already get Teen Vogue but this one has a little bit of a nicer cover so I will keep this one more of a collectible item.
Here is the actual bottle of perfume. It is a purple magenta pink heart bottle that is covered completely in glitter. The cap is the shape of a crown with gems on it and also it has a little heart tag that say Vera Wang Pink Princess.
Also in the package it came with a few other goodies. I am OBSESSED with these kind of hair ties so I was super pumped when I saw a few in the package. These are perfect to wear on your wrist and they don't crease your hair which also comes in handy. The package came with a blush pink, lavender, mint green, navy, and floral patterned hair ties.
Then there was this small gold wallet. A fun detail is that it says Teen Vogue on the inside of the wallet.
The last two things are a cute notebook with pink crowns on it and this striped scarf. The scarf has hints of silver metallic but is still neutral enough to be paired with a lot of different things.

Dorm Shopping + OOTD
July 24th, 2013:
My roommate and I finally got our bedding! Score! It was a long awaited process but we settled on this Kate Spade bedding from Bed Bath and Beyond. Yes, I did get Kate Spade bedding....... I can feel the judgement. But, that's totally okay.
It is this grey pattern with scroll like details (it's hard to describe) and the reverse side is just simple grey with white polka dots. So, if I get sick of one side I can switch it back and forth which is nice. I am planning on doing a purple accent color for sheets and pillows.

The Outfit: Surprisingly the midwest has gotten a little cooler over this whole week. So I decided to layer this denim shirt with my typical summer outfit. This maxi skirt is a fun coral color that brightens up the look. Adding the chain necklace adds a tiny edge along with the acid wash style of the shirt.

Preppy Diaries: Chevron and Bubble Necklace

Today I kept things pretty casual. We went up to my Aunt's house who lives in Lake Forest for lunch (which was quite lovely might I add). Again, me trying to be preppy this is what I came up with.
The Outfit:
I paired this super cute chevron top with some simple tiffany blue colored shorts. This top is literally my obsession. I wish they made it in like every color because chevron is my favorite print at the moment. If it has chevron on it..... I want it. Then gotta have the classic J Crew inspired bubble necklace hanging out on my neck. Love this thing to death and it definitely fits the preppy bill. I paired the look with a darker pink lip stick/ stain from Mary Kay. (I wore a Covergirl outlast stain underneath it helped keep the lipstick in place all day)

ONE DIRECTION concert: featuring 5 Seconds of Summer

Where are my One Direction fans out there? Well, I am a HUGE One Direction fan, to say the least. The Take Me Home tour in Chicago was one of the most AMAZING concerts I have ever been to. It was for sure one of the best nights of my summer so far. I didn't think you could top the first concert, The Up All Night tour which was about over a year ago, but it completely did.
I bought these tickets over a year ago for this concert. In other words I hadn't heard the CD or even knew if I would still like them. But, I love their current album even more then the first one. I think when you go to a concert where you know all of the words to every song its so much more fun. So, two of my friends and I danced and sang basically the whole time. My arm hurts so bad from holding up my camera but it was completely worth it because I got some amazing shots. So here are some of my pictures and videos from the concert. If you like One Direction I hope you enjoy!

With my outfit I basically was being a typical "directioner" and mimicking Louis's classic blue and white striped look. Also, I wore the red bow belt to represent a bow tie because the boys always wear bow ties. But, overall I just wanted a cute summer look but still had touches of the band. I'm not really into the puffy paint t-shirt look so I thought this was a classy upgrade.

Preppy Diaries: Stripes and Button Downs

So recently I have been obsessing over preppy Tumblr accounts. Basically I have just been trying to be preppy but I think I'm doing it in still a Miranda way. Maybe? I don't know. But, Tuesday I went shopping with my friend it was kind of a fail but I liked my outfit so that's all that matters.
The Outfit: Again, I was going for a preppy look with the Keds, stripes, and button down. It is also slightly nautical too. That wasn't on purpose I assure you. This skirt is good to pair with a lot of things I have found myself really liking it. I feel like you can never go wrong with a denim button down either. (unless you wear it with jeans that is a NO GO)
