Goodbye 2015!

I cannot believe that 2015 is over! This year has for sure been a whirlwind and one that I will never forget. Although there was drama and some tears shed this has been a great year. I discovered what I want in life and who I want to become, traveled Europe with some amazing people, became editor in chief of my campus magazine Trend, and started dating the best boyfriend I could ever dream of. To say 2015 was a good year would be an understatement!

This year, more then ever, I realized that you need to follow your heart and go with your gut. Don't let other people's opinions, actions, or words hurt you or sway you. And most importantly always believe in yourself and don't let anyone dull your sparkle. Every year will have ups and downs, but, it's important to remember the good times and not the bad. Because at the end of the day your going to remember the laughs and smiles you had with your loved ones. So, here is a small look at my 2015 through some of my favorite Instagrams!

I started off 2015 in the happiest place on earth, Disney World! Luckily I will be back in Disney on the 2nd and 3rd for a trip with my boyfriend.

In my spring semester I was apart of a lot of exciting things through my fashion program. I was Director of Accessories for Trend for the second semester in a row, wrote for the Iowa State Daily style section, and was a part of the pop-up shop committee for the ISU The Fashion Show! It was a great semester and I accomplished a lot of my goals as a student.

Over the summer I interned at a Chicago based brand, AKIRA, as a visual merchandising intern. It was a great experience and I learned a lot about the world of retail and visuals. Also, I had a great summer hanging with friends and boyfriend, celebrating my 20th birthday, and going to my 4th One Direction concert.

This past year I served as a Rowdy Gentleman, Krass & Co, and Jadelynn Brooke rep! It was great working with these awesome companies and I can't wait to continue into next semester. Be sure to use my coupon codes if you want to order anything from these awesome brands.
Rowdy Gentleman: Pollitt2016
Krass & Co.: MPOLLITT
Jadelynn Brooke: IOWASTMP

Probably the best part of 2015 was spending a semester in London through London College of Fashion's study abroad program. I learned from incredible tutors, traveled to Italy and Paris, and explored the amazing city of London.

While in the U.K. I visited Bath, Stonehenge, Oxford, and the Harry Potter filming studios! Not to mention I went to a lot of the neighborhoods and areas of the city of London.

I checked off a MAJOR thing on my bucket list: going to Disney Paris. My friend Maggie and I had an awesome day exploring the park, riding some new and old rides for us, and picking up a few souvenirs.

Another highlight of my time abroad was my trip to Florence, Rome, and Milan. Italy was gorgeous and had some of the best food of my entire life.

To close off 2015 I'm spending some time with my boyfriend and his family in Naples, FL!

I hope you all had a fabulous 2015! 2016 has a lot in store for me and I can't wait to get started! Between being a director for the fashion show, EIC of Trend magazine, and having a new apartment I can't wait for this upcoming semester.

I hope you have a happy new year and a great night!

Blog Haul: What I Got for Christmas 2015

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! I see a lot of Youtube videos and blog posts about what people got for Christmas. Personally I love them! I like seeing what everyone got and what everyone likes. This post is in no way bragging about what I received! I'm very lucky to have an amazing Christmas and to have just spent a semester traveling around Europe and shopping. So, that was also part of my Christmas present!
I just thought it would be kind of fun to share some of my favorite gifts with my readers. So, if these aren't your thing feel free not to read. But, if you like these sort of posts continue reading to find out what I got for Christmas 2015

I'm a terrible person when it comes to Christmas because I basically pick all of my gifts out. So, virtually nothing is a surprise. But, I was very happy to get some of my favorite things: a few Kendra Scott pieces, Kate Spade jewelry, a monogram KJP bracelet (thanks Aunt Karen!), a Vineyard Vines shep shirt, and my very new and fluffy Patagonia pull over! I've never had a Patagonia so I'm very excited to try it out. I also picked out some Lush products while in the London store to use in my new apartment bathroom (a bathtub at school= heaven). Also while in London I picked out some small Cath Kidston goodies including a pair of socks and a small wallet for smaller bags!

Christmas isn't complete without at least one DVD! I asked for Cinderella and Inside Out because I am secretly 5 years old. Also, since I'm 5 I had to have this limited edition Hello Kitty Softlips set because 1. it's my favorite lip balm EVER 2. I used to be obsessed with Hello Kitty. So naturally it was a must!

Some of the things I got that aren't pictured are things I got while in Europe/ London that were "in the name of Christmas" as we call it. I got an adorable Ted Baker dog pouch (look out for it in a OOTD soon!) that isn't sold in the U.S. sadly. But, I promise it's adorable! I also got a little fur scarf thing that everyone seems to wear in London. Also, I got a pair of hot pink Italian leather gloves I picked out plus a bag I purchased in Rome.

Also, since I have an amazing and generous boyfriend he gave me this gorgeous Tiffany bracelet for our 6 month/ Christmas! It's absolutely stunning and I can't wait to wear it!
I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and that Santa was good to ya! If you have any Christmas hauls on your blog or Youtube channel leave the links down below! If not comment your favorite Christmas gift you received or gave!

OOTD: Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas from Sew Cute Style! I hope your day is going great filled with presents from Santa and time with friends and family. Last night I went out to Christmas dinner with my family and Aunt at our favorite Brazilian steak house. To say I was full was an understatement. But, it was delicious!

For my Christmas Eve look I channeled my inner Audrey and Jackie O for a classic and simple dress with girly touches. My favorite part of this dress is the tiny bows placed near the arm holes and on the back of the dress. Who doesn't love a perfectly placed bow?? Especially for the holiday season!

To accessorize the look I wore my favorite KJP bracelet of the moment a navy Vickers Bow bracelet with tiny white anchors. I also wore one of my newest KJP bracelets which is their velvet one pearl bracelet in a gorgeous blue color. KJP bracelets are my favorite accessory every day of the year but especially during the winter time.

I bought this dress at Topshop forever ago and I've been waiting to wear it at just the right time! I would say Christmas Eve was the ideal occasion to bust it out.

For Christmas Eve we always go out to dinner or make dinner then open non-Santa presents! I got some pretty awesome gifts in addition to my amazing semester of traveling abroad.

OOTD: Christmas Cozy

I hope you are all having a whaley good Christmas Eve so far! Before getting ready for the holiday festivities later tonight I have been lounging around in my Vineyard Vines holiday long sleeve with no makeup on. Since I usually have a pretty dramatic makeup look for Christmas dinner I usually wait until later in the day to fully get ready.

My go-to comfy look recently has been some sort of t-shirt, leggings, and my Bean Boots. I know typical. But, it's super comfy and perfect for running last minute errands and lounging around watching Christmas movies! This morning I have watched Elf and Home Alone in honor of Christmas being tomorrow.

My awesome boyfriend got me this t-shirt because he knows my love of Vineyard Vines and Christmas! He picked it up a while ago but they may still be available in some stores.

Christmas is my FAVORITE time of the year! I love holiday movies, yummy food, and spending time with family and friends of course. Sew Cute Style wishes you a very Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season! I hope Santa brings you lots of goodies and you eat lots of food and cookies.

OOTD: Rose Gold

While I'm home for winter break I've been trying to mix up my wardrobe a little bit! I'm trying to wear pieces and accessories I haven't worn in a while to get things circulating and to not let pieces lay in my closet. Sometimes I feel like I have nothing to wear, but I just need to re-visit old favorites. One of my old favorites is my Sam Edleman spikey rose gold loafers. I used to wear these all the time in HS but since college I haven't worn them. After receiving some beautiful Kendra Scott rose gold jewelry for a gift I knew I had to take them out again.

I paired these loafers with a simple white sweater and a black flare skirt. To add some pattern I added grey and black polka dot tights to the look. For a pop of color I wore my go-to Coccinelle purse of the moment I picked up in Italy. But, I recently discovered they have a U.S. website now! My purse is currently on sale so be sure to check it out. These bags are great quality with amazing Italian leather. This bag is the perfect everyday size for me: it fits my wallet, a pen, travel medicine, phone charger, lipstick, and lip balm

This outfit was perfect for running errands and getting coffee on an un-normally warm winter day. I try and dress up during the week even at home so I feel the motivation to get things done! As you may know, dressing well is my biggest tactic to getting things done.

Sew Cute Abroad: London Doors

And my door obsession continues.... if you have been following me around on my London adventures you probably have concluded one thing. I'm obsessed with doors. I recently talked about my obsession in a recent OOTD post but I thought I'd share with you some colorful houses and doors from my little walking trip in Notting Hill.

If you didn't already know, London is full of brightly colorful neighborhoods like Notting Hill, Primrose Hill, Chelsea, and other areas around the city. Colorful doors and houses are EVERYWHERE and I just love it. I'm not the kind of girl to shy away from color. Most people in London wear all black everything which was really depressing at times. So, I loved seeing bold and bright homes to brighten up my day.

I loved how this bright pink bike was sitting in front of this pale mauve pink colored house. London is full of Instagram-able moments and this was for sure one of them! It was hard to pick just one door photo to Instagram so I've been going a little crazy. And to be honest, I will probably continue to post photos from my time in London because I'm just obsessed with how cute the city was.

My door obsession was so real my friend Sarah and I actually collected pictures of doors from our travels in London, Bath, Italy, and Paris for a school project we were working on. If you'd like to see those photos let me know in the comments!

This teal house with vines, a hot pink door and railing was oh-so-cute! I love the contrast between the two colors and the vines add an nice extra touch.

Purple door heaven! If you know anything about me purple is my die hard favorite color. So, when I saw these doors I was obsessed. They were actually doors to two apartments above boutiques in Notting Hill.

I'm not sure why, but, palm trees made a few appearances in London. Not sure how that works but I loved how the stuck out agains these pastel pink and blue homes!

I hope you enjoyed this look at Notting Hill homes and doors! I found a great walking tour through Notting Hill from one of my favorite bloggers History in High Heels! So, if you happen to be in London or are planning a trip be sure to check it out.
XOXO
