Dose of Disney: Minnie Style

If you saw Monday's post you know it was Rock the Dots Day this week. So, I'm doing a whole week of Minnie inspired posts this week to celebrate! Today, I'm sharing this super casual Minnie inspired look.

From bows to polka dots this look has a ton of Minnie inspiration. I love this sweater from Ann Taylor Loft. I scored it on sale for such a deal a while back. It has a fun little flair detail at the sleeve plus a little bow, so cute!

Minnie or Mickey accessories are such an easy way to add a Disney touch to any look. These dainty earrings are actually Mickey hands doing a piece sign! Little touches like this are what makes adding Disney to your style so easy. Plus these earrings were super affordable, under $10. Click here to see a similar pair

Coach also has a great collection of Mickey bags. This bag is from their original Disney collection. It's the perfect size for a small crossbody and has a ton of great pockets. Shop Disney is now carrying Disney Coach products so you can shop a ton of bags that are similar to this one!

To complete the look I added a fun polka dot headband, complete with a bow detail. This polka dot print is super subtle and would match a ton of different looks! Adding small accessories adds a dose of Disney without being to out there. I know not everyone loves Disney and doesn't feel comfortable wearing a giant Mickey or Minnie around. Small touches like this is a way you can add a hint of Disney magic to any look without  being to out there.

Dose of Disney: Rock the Dots 2018

Happy Rock the Dots Day! What's Rock the Dots Day you may ask? Well, today is all about rocking polka dots, red, bows, and all things Minnie style. I love incorporating Disney style into my everyday life. Whether it is dressing Minnie inspired or wear a skirt decked out in Mickey and Minnie heads there are so many ways to add a dose of Disney to your daily look.

For this look I styled this adorable Cath Kidston skirt I picked up from their last Disney collaboration. It is covered in Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, Donald, and Pluto heads. And of course giant polka dots! This skirt is perfect for Rock the Dots Day.

Since this skirt is very vibrant and has a large pattern I kept things simple on top with a black turtle neck. The little white detailing on the ruffle is giving me major vintage Minnie vibes. My biggest rule of thumb when it comes to a print like this skirt has is balancing everything out. Keep things simple and focus on one major show piece in your look!

Since I live in Illinois and it's freezing as crud a hat is a necessary accessory. Berets are one of my favorite cold weather accessories. I may not have a Minnie mouse hat, but I think she would approve of this adorable little black beret. Plus it has little sparkly stones on the top, which gives it a glamours touch.

Minnie is such a style icon, in my eyes. Her look has changed over the years, but she is still as stylish as ever! Want more Minnie style inspiration? Check out @minniestyle on Instagram for more inspo and see more ways you can incorporate Minnie into your style.

Dose of Disney: Disney Japan Haul

If you saw my post from a while back you know that I am obsessed with Disney Store Japan and Tokyo Disneyland merchandise. I found a personal shopping service that will ship mainly stationery goods from Japan to the U.S. and to say I'm obsessed is an understatement. A few people were interested in seeing what I picked up from these orders so here it is!

Ballpensetc mainly shops for stationery, but there are a few other items she picks up! I'm mainly interested in Disney items, but she also does a lot of Sanrio shopping!

All of these items were over a few different purchases, and this isn't everything but it is a good highlight of some of the things I've purchased! I live for Japanese pens so I have picked up quite a few pens. Sarasa clip pens are my all time favorite pens, so I've gotten quite a few sets that are all Disney themed. They have a super fine point and gel ink which makes for a super thin line.

Ufufy's are also a favorite of mine. Little did I know that all of them would eventually come to the U.S. (oops). But I picked up the Beauty & The Beast Ufufy's as well as this adorable Dopey Ufufy. These little guys are so dang cute it almost hurts. Plus they smell delicious.

Little notepads and sticky notes are my calling. Which is just another way to say I have a notebook problem. From Toy Story to Chip & Dale Japan has a ton of different notepads to fit any Disney fans needs. If you need to know anything about me it is that I LOVE Monsters Inc. So a lot of the items I picked up, like this Mike & Sully sticky note, are Monsters Inc themed!

Pens on pens on pens! Plus a sparkly Belle pencil case.

Here are some random goodies I picked up. More Sarasa pens, a Stella Lou sticky note, Dale Christmas keychain, a Marie little pouch, and a Monsters Inc & Toy Story set.

A big purchase of mine was this Mickey hamburger bag. It can be a shoulder bag or be converted into a backpack. Mickey + burgers is a great combination.

A big thing in Tokyo Disney are these little passholders. They also have a zip compartment so they can be a little bag. Again, had to pick up Sulley and this adorable little white Mickey mouse.

Going to Tokyo Disneyland is for sure on my bucketlist. Let's be honest, to go to all of the Disney parks is on my bucket list! I'm halfway there at least.

What would you pick up from Tokyo Disney if you could shop there? I would for sure pick up some more of their headbands and cute hats!

Sew Cute Holiday: Afternoon Tea

I'm channeling major Blair Waldorf vibes for, potentially, my last holiday post of the season! The week after Christmas my mom and I went to Afternoon Tea at the Langham hotel in Chicago. I had seen the afternoon tea on another blogger's Instagram and I knew I had to check it out! The Langham Chicago looked so dreamy with its pink Christmas decor I was dying to stop by and take a peak.

Their Alice and Wonderland Holiday tea is running until February 9th so, if your feeling inspired after this post there is still time to head on over and enjoy this amazing afternoon tea. The tea features your choice of tea (obvi), sandwiches, scones with toppings, and desserts. They also gave us extra cookies and chocolates to take home as a special holiday treat! All of the food was delicious and my tea was very good as well. I had the Palm Court Blend which was a Chinese White tea that is exclusive to the Langham. It is a beautiful pink color, which made for the most amazing photo. But, the tea was equally delicious as it was adorable. My mom had the Nutcracker blend, which was a holiday tea.

Obviously, I had to channel my inner Queen B for my look for tea. The whole experience felt very Upper East Side. For this Blair inspired look I paired this adorable white button down with black velvet bow details with a lavender velvet skirt. I have been eyeing this shirt at J. Crew for quite sometime, but it finally went on sale and I got an extra 40% off. I picked up this skirt 40% off as well!

I wasn't totally on the velvet bandwagon when the trend first came around this fall, but I have to say I love this skirt and I have picked up a few other velvet pieces. This skirt is one example of a way to wear velvet preppy! So many of the looks I see are a little too edgy for me. But, this skirt in this gorgeous color is something I can get behind. Not to mention, apparently lavender is the new "it" color thanks to Pantone. Shout out to Pantone for making all of my purple dreams a reality and making purple "cool".

Did I mention I'm obsessed with the Langham's Christmas decor? All of the pink, silver, and gold ornaments were so dreamy. Can I decorate my entire future house in this color scheme? It's so beautiful!

Here I am sipping my pink tea and living the dream. The tea also included a glass of sparkling wine, which was delicious. We sat near the window and had a great view out onto the river and Chicago streets. It was lightly snowing that day so it was quite the beautiful sight.

Sew Cute Holiday: Brookfield Zoo Lights Snapshots

Christmas may be over, but I am still talking about it because I'm not over it. Today I'm sharing some snapshots of my trip to the Brookfield Zoo Lights. The Brookfield Zoo is a zoo located locally the suburbs of Chicago. I grew up going to the zoo and watching all of the animals, but I have never been to the Brookfield Zoo's Christmas lights. So, this year I found a Groupon and my mom and I decided to head on out to check it out.

If you follow me on Instagram stories, you would know the first attempt we tried to go we couldn't get in. The roads were jam packed full of cars an entire mile around the zoo and no one was allowed to enter the parking lot. After about an hour and a half of sitting in the car outside of the zoo my mom and I aborted mission and decided we would go another day.

Naturally, we waited till the week of Christmas and went a few days after. It was below 30 degrees and everything was covered in snow. So, in these photos I am wearing two pairs of pants, a spirit jersey, Patagonia zip-up, two pairs of socks, a beanie, Bean Boots, and a big North Face parka. To say we were bundled up would be an understatement. But, with all of our layers we kept pretty warm and enjoyed all of the lights and animals!

Most of the animals were inside, so we could go in and out of the exhibits to warm up. The wind wasn't terrible so it could have been much much worse weather then what we had. It was snowing while we were there so it made everything quite magical, to be honest. But, there is nothing magical about getting snowflakes stuck in your eyelashes, I will say that!

As for the actual lights they were super fun to see! They had animated light as well as some lights that changed with music. Plus there were some animals outside that are used to the cold weather, so it was fun to see some of them play in the snow. We saw three Reindeer chasing each other as carolers sang Christmas music. Honestly, one of the coolest things I have seen in a while! It was the picture perfect Christmas picture.

There were lots of great photo ops as well! From the rainbow light globe thing (not sure what to call that) to all of the animal lights and sculptures there were tons of fun photo opportunities at the Zoo Lights.

Overall, we had a great experience at the Brookfield Zoo Lights! For a $12.50 ticket on Groupon it was more then worth the money! You get admission into the zoo as well as the lights, and you could be there all day if you really wanted too. It was practically empty when we went due to the snow and cold weather, so I recommend going on a colder day to avoid crowds, if you can.

Stoney Clover Lane x Target REVIEW

Stoney Clover Lane has made a few appearances on my blog, but today I have some exciting new things to share from the brand. On Stoney Clover Lane's Instagram they recently announced a collection they launched with Target. This is HUGE for them and I am so happy that they are in such a huge retailer.

I love shopping small and finding unique brand that not everyone knows about. Stoney Clover Lane is one of those brands. They create amazing pouches, patches, bags, and more! I originally found them because they made adorable acrylic bracelets with vintage Liberty print fabric ties. They have a Disney collection at the Four Seasons Orlando and I picked up a few things from them there. Since then the company has grown a TON and now offers so much more then just bracelets.

Their pouches are great for traveling/ everyday. I keep this mini pouch (pictured above) in my bag as a makeup bag. It is the perfect size for me. But, I also have a small pouch in the same pink patent color that is great for traveling. They also have large pouches that are also great to throw in your travel bag to keep you organized. The best part about Stoney Clover is all of the customization options. I have always opted for a M patch on everything. But, you could put your name a phrase or anything you want! They also have patches with a wide variety of designs from emojis to stars.

But, today I am talking about their collab with Target! They collabed with Target to create a phone case pocket, patches, and pouches. I picked up the phone case pocket and three patches (so far) and I am loving them! I placed the phone pocket on the back of my case and I'm currently keeping my Ventra card (aka the bus/ train card for Chicago) in there. I'm always misplacing it or leaving it in a bag so I thought this would be the perfect place for it. On top of the pocket I placed one of the Target patches which is a holographic diamond. I also got a fun flamingo and a holographic star! These a great quality for the price!! Normal Stoney Clover Lane is about $10 per patch and up to $30-50 per pouch. So, to get patches for under $3 is great! The best part is they are super sticky so no sewing required. I've had my diamond patch on my phone case for a few days now and it has not budged.

I would 100% recommend these products to anyone! A lot of phone case pockets I have seen from Kate Spade and other brands are $30+. While this one is under $10!!! Plus you can pick it up at Target, so it is a win-win.

Some of the collaboration's items are sold out online. But, they are hitting stores soon, if not they are already in your local Target! Keep up with Stoney Clover Lane on social media for re-stock updates. They are super great about posting details and info on their stories.

If you are wondering about my ears, they are from Shop House of Mouse! She uses Stoney Clover Lane initial patches on her denim ears and I am obsessed.

Have you heard of Stoney Clover Lane? Be sure to check out their collection at Target now!

Winter 2018 Lilly After Party Sale Haul

It's that time of year again, my Lilly After Party Sale Haul post is here! This year I really didn't go crazy. Well I didn't think I did until I made this post but whatever. This year I really only got pieces I loved/ were a really great price.

The first piece I really loved I picked up in store on the second day of the sale. I love this alpaca printed romper. I'm obsessed with this adorable print!! The colors are so pretty and the alpaca is just so dang cute.  Also, the fabric is super casual so it would be great for vacation or even as a pool cover-up. Next up is this basic pink tank, which I scored for $24! This top will go with so many Lilly prints, so it is super versatile. And for $24 it was such a steal.

Next up is another great find, this sweater tank was $19. Seriously, what??! $19 that is ridiculous! I'm sure it was a fluke that I got it for that cheap, but I'm not complaining. Then I picked up this basic navy scalloped skort, which again will be a great versatile piece to wear with Lilly tops.

The last sale I really wanted this shell printed two piece set, but resisted. But, this time I went for it because it is so cute! I love the scallops (if you couldn't tell from the two other scalloped things I bought....). Plus you can wear the pieces separate if you really wanted too! For my last piece I got another scalloped skort in this fun yellow flower print. This skort will be perfect for casual summer looks.

To be completely honest I wasn't really in love with any of the pieces this sale. The last sale I found soooo many things I wanted, while this one not so much. Obviously I still found some things, but I'm usually interested in way more pieces. But, the winter sale is usually smaller. So that is most likely why. Most of the prints just weren't my favorite, and I didn't really see any dresses I loved either. This time around there wasn't anything I was particularly looking for as well. But, all in all still found a few great pieces I am excited about!

What did you pick up from the sale? Let me know in the comments!
