OOTD: Rhinestones and Layering

All layered up!
I wore this gorgeous rhinestone top to a recent holiday party with my family. Sometimes it is a struggle to think of a new and innovative way to wear something that you already wore. With this shirt, I wanted to be able to transition it into a look that I could wear to a casual day shopping with my mom.

To make things more casual I layered this great sparkly blouse with a gingham print collared shirt. I love how the shirt peeks out on the bottom. Also, the sleeves on the gingham shirt are a little longer so I cuffed them to create a layered look. The combination of these two shirts is not only preppy but pretty fabulous (in my opinion). Both of these pieces together creates a cute and casual look perfect for everyday.

With my layered top combination I wore a simple pair of dark wash jeans. This completed my casual preppy look. For shoes I simply wore my go-to black flats from Tory Burch. Then, per usual I wore my go-to arm party of the moment which includes my KJP bow and pearl bracelet, Alex and Ani bangles, as well as my Henri Bendel watch.

2014: Favorite Outfit Recap

I thought it would be a fun idea to look back at past outfits of the year. This is one of the many 2014 posts that I plan to do. So be on the lookout for more recaps of the year 2014!

Throughout the year I know my style changes. Looking back at last January I can tell I have gotten more preppy. However, I would say my style has changed very similar. From colors, prints, to sparkle its all happened in the year 2014. Here is a journey into the past through a year of outfits.

OOTD: Party hat on

Lets get the party started!

This bright and colorful hat was a recent Christmas gift. I love this hat for the winter because it adds a great pop of color to any outfit. Plus the hat is made out of corduroy which makes it winter appropriate.

To avoid distracting from my party hat I decided to keep the rest of the outfit basic. For me the basics include:
-A pair of black leggings
-A white button down
-Short brown boots
-Monogram necklace

My outfit included all of these basic pieces in my wardrobe. A simple white button down lets the hats bright colors pop from the look. To add a little bit of extra color I added a bright pink lip color to tie in with the hat.

For jewelry I kept things simple. Pearl studs, a monogram necklace, my KJP pearl bracelet, and my Alex and Ani bangles.

Wearing baseball hats is one of my go-to solutions to a bad hair day. My hair wasn't looking to hot so sliding on a baseball cap fixes all of my worries. Not to mention they are a great accessory! Vineyard Vines is on e of my favorite places to get hats.

Don't you love this hat! I can't get over the color block detailing. Although this hat isn't available on Vineyard Vines website right now they have a great sale going on! An extra 30% off sale items! Be sure to check it out.

Where it's from:
Shirt: Ralph Lauren
Leggings: Aerie
Boots: Michael Kors
Hat: Vineyard Vines
Bracelets: Alex and Ani & KJP
Necklace: Moon and Lola

My current favorite pieces of jewelry are in this look. You have seen these four bracelets in a lot of recent OOTD posts. What can I say, I can't help it they are too classic not to wear with everything!

OOTD: Witty Pocket Tee

A cozy lazy Sunday calls for a witty pocket tee. This adorable tee is from J Crew and I just adore it! The pocket has a sheep jumping over a fence along with the words: I'm so over it. Maybe I'm the only one but I think this is hilarious! Also it is in a great light pink color and is very soft. I paired this shirt with a long fuzzy cardigan. This combination made for the perfect lazy day look. To complete the look I wore dark wash jeans and short black boots (stolen from my mom).

Pairing fun shirts with oversize sweaters is a great way to dress in the winter. This way you can wear things from previous seasons without freezing! So, if you are always cold like me, investing in fuzzy sweaters is a great idea. They are the perfect item to add to any look in the winter.

For my accessories I chose to layer these two smaller necklaces. Both of these necklaces were recent Christmas gifts from my parents. I am in love with both of them! I normally don't wear dainty small necklaces but these two are great. For a while now I have been wanting a House of Harlow necklace so I was ecstatic to open this up on Christmas. Then, I was eyeing this "M" Kate Spade necklace from the Nordstrom Semi-Annual a while back and it seems Santa saved me one! This "M" necklace also goes great with my new monogram necklace.

Also, I'd like to mention that I CANNOT take off this KJP pearl bracelet. It is my favorite gift for sure. I just love it! It literally matches everything and it has two of my favorite things in one: pearls and anchors.

Where it's from:
Shirt: J Crew
Sweater: Nordstrom
Jeans: American Eagle
Shoes: Nordstrom
Bracelets: Alex and Ani & KJP
Watch: Henri Bendel
"M" necklace: Kate Spade
Black necklace: House of Harlow

This is the first time in a while that I haven't worn bold lipstick. Instead, I reached for a Tarte lip surgence in a neutral tone. I would say it is a "your lips but better" shade. The color is called Glitzy!

How do you style cozy sweater? Let me know in the comments!
