OOTD: Party hat on

Lets get the party started!

This bright and colorful hat was a recent Christmas gift. I love this hat for the winter because it adds a great pop of color to any outfit. Plus the hat is made out of corduroy which makes it winter appropriate.

To avoid distracting from my party hat I decided to keep the rest of the outfit basic. For me the basics include:
-A pair of black leggings
-A white button down
-Short brown boots
-Monogram necklace

My outfit included all of these basic pieces in my wardrobe. A simple white button down lets the hats bright colors pop from the look. To add a little bit of extra color I added a bright pink lip color to tie in with the hat.

For jewelry I kept things simple. Pearl studs, a monogram necklace, my KJP pearl bracelet, and my Alex and Ani bangles.

Wearing baseball hats is one of my go-to solutions to a bad hair day. My hair wasn't looking to hot so sliding on a baseball cap fixes all of my worries. Not to mention they are a great accessory! Vineyard Vines is on e of my favorite places to get hats.

Don't you love this hat! I can't get over the color block detailing. Although this hat isn't available on Vineyard Vines website right now they have a great sale going on! An extra 30% off sale items! Be sure to check it out.

My current favorite pieces of jewelry are in this look. You have seen these four bracelets in a lot of recent OOTD posts. What can I say, I can't help it they are too classic not to wear with everything!

OOTD: Preppy Plaid

Recently, I have been super into wearing plaid scarfs. Constantly I find myself reaching for both of mine! During Thanksgiving break shopping I intend on finding a few more because they are literally perfection!

For this outfit I paired my red plaid scarf with a fun red scalloped dress. I bought this dress in the summer but now I am transitioning it into fall with a pair of printed tights. The slight houndstooth print in these tights adds an extra pop of pattern to the look. To layer the dress I wore a simple denim button down underneath. It added an extra layer so I didn't freeze in class! To complete the look I wore a crystal statement necklace from J Crew because what else completes an outfit like a J Crew statement necklace? For shoes I stuck with my classic pair of black ballet flats.

I am loving this layered look! The combination of the scarf, dress, and denim button down creates a cozy fall look. This look is super easy to re-create and makes a great casual fall look. Simply find a sleeveless dress from your summer wardrobe and layer it with a button down of some sort underneath. Pair it with a necklace and or scarf to complete the look! And of course don't forget a pair of cool tights.

I love this scallop detail on this dress! Scallops are the perfect preppy touch to any garment.

OOTD: Tees and Things

For a night full of meetings I decided to dress what I call comfortable chic. Most people don't consider skirts and tights comfortable but I sure do! This skirt is also super soft and loose so it's one of the most comfortable things ever. I paired this heather maroon skirt with a fun graphic tee from J Crew. To keep myself warm I added a simple black cardigan and a pair of plain black tights. To accessorize the look I wore a chunky jewel statement necklace, bow earrings, as well as some of my favorite bracelets. I changed my shoes for my meetings but to class I wore this super fun pair of Kate Spade owl flats. These flats were on super clearance when I bought them so I got them for a steal. This was the first time I have actually worn them so I was pretty excited about that.

This look was super fun and like I said super comfortable. You shouldn't be afraid to wear a skirt or dress around campus! Like I said I think they are just as comfortable as leggings or sweat pants. So, if your feeling daring one day wear something a little out of the box. I know when I feel dressed up I feel a lot more productive and ready for the day versus when I just throw on a sweatshirt and leggings.

Preppy Diaries: Color Mixing

Mixing It Up
For this outfit I decided to mix things up a bit. So, I paired these purple chino shorts with a fun graphic tee. The tee says Oh La La which I love! I am a sucker for shirts with french words on them. I only took 2 years of high school french but I still love the language. To tie in the purple and the blues in the look I wore a fun statement necklace that ties the whole look together. I love statement necklaces with multiple colors because they can go with a lot of different looks. For shoes I wore my trusty Jack Rogers (the usual). Then I completed the look with pearls, a skinny gold belt, a watch, and some bangles.

I think this look is a great way to style a fun t-shirt. You can mix up a tee by pairing it with colored or printed shorts suppose to just normal denim shorts!

Preppy Diaries: Neon and Tunics

Lime time
I am completely obsessed with these linen skirts from J Crew! I have the same style in a neutral tan color and it goes with everything. But, this super bright green color is going to be great for the summer. It is super bold and of course preppy. I paired it with a more neutral tunic top that has great embroidery detailing. The color I am not a hundred percent positive if it is blue or black but I like to think that it is navy. For shoes I wore my favorite seersucker loafers from J Crew. As for accessories I kept it simple with a pair of gold bow studs, a pearl bracelet, and my favorite bangles.

{New week new manicure.}

{Arm candy of the day. This J Crew pearl bracelet literally goes with everything! I have the matching necklace and they are both very versatile pieces in my jewelry collection.}

Preppy Tag!

What's your definition of preppy?
My definition of preppy is anything that is girly or southern inspired. Being from the midwest I have never been exposed to hardcore preppy girls. But recently, my style has been evolving into more of a preppy style. I think being preppy means you like to wear fun and bright pieces. At the same time preppy style incorporates a lot of classics like pearls and simple silhouettes.

What's your all time favorite brand?
My all time favorite brand would have to be J Crew. If you look through my ootd posts you can see almost everything I wear is form J Crew. It is such a great brand because it has classic things mixed with really fun and colorful pieces. Basically it has been my obsession for a while so for sure I would say J Crew! For accessories and purses Kate Spade is my go-to brand. Almost all of my purses and jewelry are from there. I love Kate Spade for cute and girly pieces.

What is your favorite Lilly print?
My favorite Lilly Pulitzer print is the mint print or the mint julep drink print! I think it is so cute and I love the colors!

Favorite preppy YouTuber?
By far my favorite YouTuber is Sarahbelle93x. I used to be HUGE into watching Youtube beauty gurus, but now I don't watch them as often. But, I still watch Sarahbelle religiously because she is basically perfect!

Jack Rogers or Sperrys?
I can't choose! But I have an insane amount of Sperrys so I would have to choose Sperrys. However, I think Jack Rogers are the perfect shoe for summer/ spring.

Jeans or Khakis?
Jeans for sure! I have one pair of khakis and the last time I wore them I got confused for a Target employee.... so I think I will stick with jeans!

Duck Boots, Riding Boots or Hunters?
Riding or Hunters for sure. I love my Hunter rain boots because my campus is bipolar and it always changing weather. Hunters are great for the snow and rain so they are very versatile. But, I love my pair of Michael Kors brown riding boots. In the fall and winter I wear them basically everyday. So riding boots and Hunters are for sure tied.

Navy or Black?
Personally I am more of a black then navy person. But, I for sure like brown the best! Usually I wear more brown and black then navy. However, I am starting to get more navy pieces so who knows I might change my preferences :).

On a scale of 1-10 how much do you love J.Crew?
This scale does not describe my love for J Crew! I listed it as my favorite brand earlier so I think that explains it all.

Favorite Ralph Lauren clothing item?
Ralph Lauren button downs are a major basic piece for me. I have a white and a blue one and I wear them all the time. They are great to pair with more patterned pieces or with bold jewelry. If you don't have at least one you need to invest in one!

Pearls or bows?
For sure pearls. I wear a pearl necklace, earrings, or a bracelet basically every day! I love the classic look that pearls has. Also, they go with everything because they are so neutral.

A New Bag...

Anchored in cuteness!

A little while back I got this new purse from J Crew. It is super adorable and oh so nautical! I have been obsessed with anything that has an anchor or that is nautical recently and this bag is no exception. It can be a clutch or you can use the chain and carry it like a normal purse. Overall it is a super cute bag and a great addition to my collection.

Preppy Diaries: Embroidered Tunic

Another preppy outfit of the day post is here! Recently my style has been super preppy and chic. This outfit is no exception. It features an embroidered white tunic and a bold tortoise shell necklace. I paired the tunic with a pair of simple brown flats and my typical accessories. For underneath I wore a navy romper that I picked up from Forever 21. It is a part of their new basics collection and will be great for layering in the future. Overall, this look is super relaxed and easy to wear.

OOTD: Orange and Stripes

As you may have read earlier this outfit is from my trip to Bettendorf, Iowa for Easter break. It was a gorgeous day so I ditched the coat and boots for a more spring ensemble. I paired a fun pair of orange pants with a simple striped tee. To spice it up I wore my new J Crew statement necklace. The necklace features a orange color which accents the color of the pants. For shoes I stole my friends Tory Burch sandals and I am kind of obsessed with them. But, no worries I did give them back to her.

This look is super fun and also very preppy. I plan to wear fun preppy looks like this all summer long and I cannot wait.

Preppy Diaries: Monogram Monday

On Monday I sported a fairly recent purchase of mine which is a M sweater from Old Navy. I think this is super cute and not to mention preppy! I love the combination of the grey and the pink and it is also a great layering piece. When the weather is in the negative 20s you have to layer up. So I paired the sweater with a pink, purple, and red plaid shirt. I simply paired the layered look with a pair of dark wash jeans and my signature brown boots.

For an extra pop of color I added a bold pink statement necklace. Also, I wore my Michael Kors watch and Alex and Ani bangles. Then another small touch in the look is my pearl stud earrings.

Overall, I am obsessed with super preppy sweater. It was also at a great price!
