OOTD: Holidays in Chicago

OOTD: Holidays in Chicago

Every year my family and I go downtown Chicago to go to the Walnut room and the Macy's on State Street. This year due to my wisdom teeth being removed we had to reschedule our normal trip. So, by the time we got there the walnut room was booked for the night! (It was crazy busy to say the least!) However we did get to take pictures with the tree and browse through ornaments.

For my outfit I wore my favorite sequin skirt and white button down. I mixed up the look with a pair of festive red tights and a plaid scarf. This plaid scarf may be one of my new obsessions! (So get ready to see it a lot.)

Where it's from:
Shirt: Ralph Lauren Polo
Skirt: Aerie
Tights: Target
Scarf: Khols
Necklace: J Crew
Shoes: Michael Kors
Bracelets: J Crew & Alex and Ani
Earrings: Kate Spade

I love these red tights! I was a little iffy about them but I saw Blair Waldorf sporting a pair on Gossip Girl so it kind of inspired me to buy a pair. And since Blair is my twin I figured I could work them as well.

Two of my holiday favorites include this nail polish by Essie (Beyond Cozy) and my gold glitter sunglasses by Betsey Johnson. Together they make a very sparkly combo.

{State Street Macy's in Chicago is my absolute favorite! We have been coming here to see the tree since as long as I can remember. Each year a different person designs/ decorates the tree and I love seeing how it changes from year to year.}

{My brother and I in front of the tree. You can see we both love plaid.}

Two of my favorite festive accessories! I always find myself reaching for this J Crew statement necklace. It is a total staple in my wardrobe.

{I spy Kate Spade dishes. When I am older I feel like all my dishes will be Kate Spade!}

{I wish I could pull off a Christmas tree as a skirt. How chic would that be?}

Top 5 Chicago Holiday Activites

Top 5 Chicago Holiday Activities
Are you going to be in Chicago over winter break? Well here are my tips and tricks to make your trip the best and to take advantage of the lovely city of Chicago.

  1. Go to Macy's on State Street: Macy's on State Street is iconic! You must hit up this stop along with the Walnut room for lunch or dinner, buy an ornament at the Christmas shop, and buy some Frango mints. This is one of the best Macy's I have been too because they have a lot of variety at their store.
  2. The German Holiday market: The holiday German market is a fun stop to get unique food and gifts!
  3. Visit the bean: Take an iconic picture with the bean with snow all around. The reflection is extra neat during the winter time.
  4. Shopping on Michigan Avenue: Michigan Avenue is a must during the holiday season. Be sure to check out Water Tower, Topshop, and the huge Forever 21 store while your there!
  5.  New Years Eve at Navy Pier: Navy Pier has an amazing firework show on New Years Eve. If you plan on being downtown during the big night be sure not to miss it!

Blog Haul: City Shopping

Blog Haul:
August 2nd, 2013:
Today I went shopping in the city with my friend and this is what I picked up!

First thing I got was this Urban Outfitters skirt. It was originally $44. I saw it a while ago on sale for $20 but decided not to get it. I'm glad I waited because I got it for $10! Also, they gave me a 10% coupon so basically the tax was free. Overall, it was a pretty good deal.

Next store I went to was Forever 21. I found a lot of good stuff there. First I got this black and white patterned circle skirt. It fits really well and was only $12. Then this muscle tank...... French fries are my favorite food so I knew I needed this.

Did you really expect me not to buy something One Direction? This was near the checkout and I had to get it. It is just a 2014 calendar.

These are just some little things. I love these fabric hair ties they were only $3 for 5 hair ties which I thought was pretty good! Also I got these London socks for $1.80. They were super cute so why not.

Last thing I picked up was this pair of snow boots. I have been wanting a pair like these for a long time. I got them at Akira and they were originally $150 and I got them for $50. Pretty good steal if you ask me.

The after math........
