OOTD: Shopping in Chicago

The day after my birthday Cassidy and I went downtown Chicago to go shopping. I was very disappointed though because Vineyard Vines on Michigan Ave close, which was the store I wanted to go to the most. However, we still had a very good shopping day. I got a few things at Topshop that were pretty good deals then I scored a lot of good stuff at J Crew for 50% off. J Crew at 50% off is my favorite kind of J Crew. I mean who passes up $10 chino shorts? No one.

Here we are with all of our bags after we ate dinner!

Our two main stops on our shopping trip.

Here is my super yummy dessert I ate at Volare. Volare is an Italian restaurant a little bit off Michigan Avenue. If you are ever in the city you NEED to try it! It is way better then any place you will find near all of the tourist attractions!

For my outfit I kept things pretty casual and comfortable because I knew I would be doing a lot of walking. I first wore a fun pair of striped shorts. They are super light and give off a nautical vibe. My shirt is just a plain white pocket tee with a fun sequin pineapple on the pocket. I kept my necklace simple because I didn't want to distract from the embellished pocket. So I wore my tortoise shell monogram necklace. For other jewelry I wore big rhinestone earrings (a birthday gift), Alex and Ani bangles, a Kate Spade bracelet, and my signature watch. My shoes are probably the most exciting part of the outfit because I have been wanting them for so long! They are a pair of gold Jack Rogers and I am obsessed. Then I am carrying a black small Longchamp tote (also a birthday gift).

OOTD: Formal Chapter

Every other Monday we have formal chapter and dinner at my lovely home of Pi Beta Phi. So, in other words its an excuse for me to put on heels and be fancy! (even though I show up to informal dinner dressed up....)

For this dinner look I wore my absolute favorite little black dress from H&M. For only being $10 I sure got my use out of it! It is super flattering and makes you look super slim. It has magical powers I swear. I paired the simple dress with a bold statement earring. Since I have finished gossip girl I just want to be Serena and wear super huge earrings. So, I tried my best here.I also wore my bright pink heels to accent the pink in the earrings.

To add some pattern to the look I wore a pair of darker houndstooth tights. The pattern is pretty subtle but it still has impact on the look. For bangles I wore my Alex and Ani bracelets, of course, in addition to my Kate Spade colored bangle and a Juicy Couture hinge bracelet.

I would describe this look as classic with a twist. Pairing fun accessories with a little black dress is a great way to make it fun and trendy.

OOTD: Trend Release Party

Last night was our fashion magazines release party. We celebrated the 15th anniversary of Trend with a fabulous night of sparkle, fashion, and fun. The theme of the party was diamonds and sparkle because the issue was named the Diamond issue.

Naturally I pulled out my most sparkly sequin dress for the occasion. My dress is a body con style dress with black and silver sequins. The sequins are double sided so when you brush your hand you can change the color of your dress. I paired the dress with a blazer to make it more winter appropriate. Also due to the fact that it was about 5 degrees outside.

I styled the look with a gold sequin skinny belt to accent my waist. It gives the dress a little bit of added shape and also a little more shine. Then I wore a longer necklace with gold and silver chains.
To complete the look I wore a pair of chunky maroon heels and black tights.

My hair was styled in a ballerina bun to keep it out of my face. A bun is a great hair do for parties because it's not only easy to do but then you don't have to worry about your hair the rest of the night! Which is idea if it is windy outside.

Overall, I loved this outfit. I felt super chic and of course sparkly.

I am in love with these maroon heels! They are a great way to add a small splash of color to a winter outfit. Not to mention the help me grow a few inches in the process.

Here are some shots of the night. We had a fashion show featuring local boutiques and ASOS as well as refreshments, a DJ, photo booth, and of course getting to flip through the new issue of Trend!

{All of my friends looked fabulous of course!}
