OOTD: Neon Layering

On super cold days layering is very important. I did a whole post on layering not to long ago so click here to check it out!

But layering can add so much interest to an outfit. It not only adds texture but also color and in this case some sparkle!

I first choose this sheer button down shirt that is grey with a neon green collar. Then I layered one of my favorite pieces an embellished sweatshirt from Aerie to the look. I love how the neon green collar stands out against the charcoal grey sweatshirt. To add on to my layering I also layered two statement necklace to create basically one huge one. It just so happens that I had two necklaces that matched my shirt perfectly! So I layered the two to create a mix of glam and edginess.

Pairing the look with jeans makes it more casual and easy to wear on an everyday basis. To dress it up a little I wore my crazy wedge sneakers. But, of course you could pair your look with black boots or whatever your shoe of choice is.

Overall I was kind of obsessed with this outfit and I am for sure going to try more looks like this in the future!

What's Trending? #collars

What's Trending? #collars

For some time now I have been obsessed with anything collar related. Wether it be a collar necklace or a collard blouse I'm crazy for collars!

Collars are not only classic but they can be chic and sophisticated or fun and playful. There are many ways to style this classic idea which is why I love them so much.

You can make it edgy by wearing a shirt with studs or spikes on the collar. Pair it with some dark skinnies our a leather skirt and you have a cool edgy look.

Or you can go the preppy route. I am obsessed with Ralph Lauren button downs. But, there are always cheaper options. Wear any white button down with a chunky pearl necklace or a monogram piece. Pair your shirt with jeans, Hunter rain boots, a puffer vest, and a baseball cap for a casual preppy look. Or you could wear a cute skirt and ballet flats for a more dressy occasion.

ASOS has unique collar necklaces and accessories. On the left is a color chain, these are a unique way to play up a simple denim button down. The pastel collar necklace on the left is ultra feminine and girly. With pastel floral beading this collar is perfect for a pastel sweater or top and a flouncy skirt.

Forever 21 offers many different collar options. They have a wide range from edgy to girly. Not only do they have necklaces but they have tops and dresses that feature this trend.

Keep things preppy with these collard looks from J Crew. They make this trend very classic however still playful and fun.

Paring a studded collar with a junky sweater is a great way to incorporate a collar into your fall or winter wardrobe. Not to mention collared shirts are great layering pieces.

This collar adds a unique touch to this basic black tee.

My Must Have Summer Accessories: Statement Necklaces

Statement Necklaces:
From bubble to bib statement necklaces have defiantly been making their mark on summer trends. Although, they have been a key part in fashion for a while now. Of course I fantasize over J Crews perfect neck candy. However not everyone has the budget for that (aka me). So, here are my statement necklace finds and favorites.

My favorites from my collection:
This gold piece is nice and chunky. It goes with practically everything because I personally wear more gold then silver. It is from H&M and I got it on sale for about $5. I highly suggest looking at sale stuff when it comes to this kind of trendy jewelry that may not be in style for a long time.

Also another H&M sale item. This one was around $3 I would say which is a great deal. The beads have a iridescent effect which is really cool up against different colors of clothing. Again, it is nice and junky and defiantly stands out.

When I want a pop of color I grab this bib necklace from Dry Goods. I got it on sale for about $10 and it was part of a buy 2 get one free deal. This magenta color surprisingly compliments a lot of things I have. It's a comfortable necklace and it isn't to bulky.

This necklace is surprisingly from Target. I had never looked at Target's jewelry until I got this necklace. It was on clearance for about $4. It's pretty nice quality and it just adds a bit of sparkle.

The classic bubble necklace, although mine is not from J Crew I got this one at Charming Charlie's for $20. But, I had a $10 off coupon so it was only $10! Which you really can't beat. This piece goes with so much. Although it jingles as you walk I still love it.

This Juicy Couture necklace is my go-to rose gold option. It has very nice stones all around and a pave toggle closure. Sometimes it gets a bit heavy but its worth the pain because I love this piece.

Lastly, a new addition to my collection. This necklace is from J Crew (factory outlet). I am not sure if it was ever at the original J Crew but it's still amazing if it wasn't. You can tell how nicely it's made which is good because even on sale this necklace was not $5. But, the outlet store had 50% the whole store so I had to take advantage of a good sale and pick it up.

How I style them:
Just like my arm candy I am always wearing something around my neck. Here are some of my outfits that feature a bold necklace. Statement necklaces, I think, take your outfits to the next level. It's that one tiny thing that makes everything come together. These outfits are from prior seasons.
