Break Shenanigans: Day spent shopping in the city

For a day spent shopping in the city I wanted to look my best! So, I paired a simple denim button down with one of my favorite Topshop skirts. I love this skirt because it has so many great fall colors. Over the shirt I layered a blue cardigan to pick up the blues in the skirt. Denim shirts are a major staple for me (If you couldn't tell!). I love layering them with sweaters and cardigans to create a layered look. Not to mention they go with practically anything. From skirts to colored pant they go with practically everything in my wardrobe.

To add some sparkle to my look I added a fun statement necklace. This necklace matches a lot of my fall outfits because of its great fall colors! Then for shoes I wore one of my favorite pair of tall brown boots. To finish off the look I stacked my go-to bracelets and wore my Henri Bendel watch.

It's all in the details! I am loving this currently bracelet stack. It features my two favorite Alex and Ani bracelets as well as a fun spikey piece from Nordstrom.

A snap from the Lush store and the hotel lobby! I love this super modern tree. I wish I could have one in my own house!

I was so excited to finally eat at the Shake Shack in Chicago. Literally Shake Shack as the best burger and fries you will ever eat. It is for sure my favorite fast food place in the city. Not to mention I tried their ice cream and its to die for.

Where is your favorite place to eat a burger and fries? Let me know in the comments!

For this OOTD I wore a lavender pair of chino shorts, a simple white tank, and a small cardigan. To complete the look I wore gold accessories including a skinny belt, bow earrings, and some bangles. I also wore a neutral pair of Sperrys to keep this outfit simple and comfortable.

The Fault In Our Stars: the movie, what to wear, whats the big deal?

Whats the big deal?
It seems like EVERYONE is talking about TFIOS aka The Fault in Our Stars. If you haven't heared of this book or movie you have basically been living under a rock! In a earlier post in May I discussed how I was reading the book.
{I can sum up my experience without telling you what happens no worries!}

Essentially the last I would say 75-50 pages I was bawling my eyes out. I even started chocking because I was crying so hard! I know what your thinking "we get it its sad". However for me I found the story to be very powerful. I never have experienced a great relationship like Augustus and Hazel have in the story. So, to see how much they cared for each other was very powerful to me. The movie was the same way, however a little different. I will say the movie is GREAT but not as good as the book. Everyone says most movies are never as good as the books. For someone like me who usually just sees the movies I never understood it. But now I get it!

Don't get me wrong, the movie is probably one of my favorite movies I have seen in a long time. The characters are truly captured by the actors and actresses they selected. But, again, the book is just a little better I have to admit. Some details are left out but naturally they couldn't put everything in the movie because it would be a year long. So would I suggest to see it? YES for sure I would! It is a great movie with a great story just like the book. Not to mention Ansel Algort is like my new dream boy. HE IS SO CUTE!

I can sum up the movie in this tweet:

P.S. follow me on twitter @Mirberry_

Now the question is, what should you wear to this movie? Well here is my idea look so you can enjoy this great movie! My golden rule for any movie is to wear long pants and long sleeves. I know its hot outside but you will FREEZE in the theater! And lets be honest how can you focus on a movie if you are freezing your booty off? So pair a normal pair of skinny jeans with a light loose long sleeve shirt. To add an extra level of comfort wear a soft scarf. For shoes, I like to wear Sperry Top-Siders because they can keep your toes warm as well. Then of course you have to wear a stack of bangles. Alex and Ani are my favorites!

In case you have been living under a rock here is the trailer! Or you can watch it for the 1,000 time like me :)

Summer Style: Beach Day

Lets go to the beach!

It's almost summer! Which means one thing pools, bomb fires, and fun. I don't go to the beach often, mainly because I burn like no other, but every girl has her ideal beach or pool ensemble. Well here is mine!

I am very loyal to Aerie swimsuits. Basically 80% of mine are from there! I prefer Aerie almost always but especially for swimwear. They usually have good prices on them too so a sale is almost a guarantee. I LOVE this pink pineapple suit from Aerie! It is super cute, colorful, and totally summer appropriate. Also, it is modeled after my favorite bra the Emma.
{For some reason I am obsessed with pineapples. I recently picked up a pineapple dress and shirt. Be sure to look for them in a blog haul!}

For shoes I love Havaianas flip flops! They are super nice quality and most of them have thinner straps which, I think, makes them more comfortable. I love these white and bronze pair. Not only perfect for the beach but would be great for any summer day.

For a suit cover up I would most likely go for a fun tunic and pair of shorts. This tunic is from J Crew and the shorts are from Aerie!

Then every girl needs a cute beach bag. I love this Kate Spade basket style bag although I don't think I would leave it at a sandy beach! But it is still a super cute summer bag.

A few of my other Aerie picks!

OOTD: Am I a hippe? Possibly....

Somethings I have these random moments when I feel like I am living in the 70's. It is sometimes (key word sometimes) to change up my normal J Crew preppy style for something different! In this instance I decided to be super hipster I guess. I paired my oversize green army inspired jacket with a fun floral dress. It was still a little chilly outside so I wore a pair of brown tights and brown boots.

For accessories I wore a contrasting floral headband across my head. My friend kept making fun of me saying that my headband looked like a t-shirt wrapped around my head. But he clearly just doesn't understand the head wrap trend that I have been seeing a lot of this spring! I also wore a fringe style necklace that I have worn many times before. Then of course no outfit is complete without my bangles and watch.

Also, in the picture I am covering my nose because I have been dying of a cold these past 12 days! So that is why I haven't been posting as much. Between 3 tests, sewing a skirt, and being sick this 2 weeks have been..... well very busy!

OOTD: It's freezing out.....

Get out your mittens and scarfs its COLD OUTSIDE! Recently I have been dressing for the weather more then for fashion which makes me super sad. But, when your a college student who has to walk to class you have to prepare for the crazy snow and temperatures that comes along with it.

So, recently I have been super into scarves, vests, and jeans. In this outfit I have multiple layers to stay warm. I am wearing a denim button down, a embellished sweatshirt, and a simple pair of skinny jeans. I paired the look with my new favorite scarf and hat from J Crew. For accessories I wore a pearl statement necklace and pearl earrings.

Overall the look is super simple but it is comfortable and most important warm!

Denim Shirt: American Eagle
Sweatshirt: Aerie
Jeans: American Eagle
Necklace: J Crew
Hat and scarf: J Crew
Shoes: Target
Bangles: Alex and Ani and J Crew

I'm loving this super chunky scarf! It keeps me nice and warm when it is below zero.

No outfit is complete without my Michael Kors watch.

OOTD: Cozy Sparkle

OOTD: Cozy Sparkle

I don't wear sweatpants.... like hardly ever. But recently I picked up this pair of sparkly sweats from Aerie. So, these sweatpants are basically just sparkly pants.

This is how I dressed up my sweat pants into a look I think is presentable enough to go out in public in. I paired my sweatpants with a light wash denim shirt and a crystal statement necklace. The look I think is surprisingly chic yet lazy at the same time.

Overall, I am just obsessed with these sweats! I think they will be perfect to lounge around in when I'm feeling lazy at school. And the fact they are sparkly make them 100x more fabulous then your average sweatpants.

Back Home Haul

Back Home Haul:
When I arrive home from being hidden away in Ames usually one of the first things I do is either eat or shop. So, when I came home for winter break I immediately needed to shop my favorite stores to score all of the amazing deals right now.

It's almost Christmas so there are a lot of good sales all around. During this time everyone is frantically trying to get their gifts finalized while I am casually browsing for myself. No worries though, I finished my gifts a long time ago.

One of the stores I went to was Nordstrom Rack. Nordstrom Rack is either a miss or a super hit with me. This time it was a super hit!

I have been eyeing these Sam Eldeman heels for quite some time. They have a unique shaped heel and are also a very dark colbot or purple color. However, I wasn't going to pay the original $50 or so dollars for them since they are such a unique color. I have seen these shoes at my Nordstrom Rack for quite some time now. So, when I saw them on this shopping trip I knew they had to be a reasonable discount by now. And boy was I right! I landed these shoes for a whopping $5! Yes $5! They were on super clearance and I couldn't be more happy with the purchase.

Getting $5 shoes is a skill of mine at Nordstrom Rack. I got a pair of Sam Eldeman ballet flats on a previous trip a while back. THE LESSON HERE: be sure to keep an eye out for shoes that have been on the shelf for a while. Chances are they will go down eventually if no one scoops them up!

The next stop was to Dry Goods where I picked up these gorgeous statement necklaces. The crystal one was only $7 and the pink one was $5! Who can beat that deal?

I know it doesn't look like it but these are a pair of harem pants! For a long time I have been trying to find a flattering pair of these. But, since I am super short they usually look ridiculous on me but these fit great! They are from Aerie but American Eagle also has the same style I believe. If you catch American Eagle or Aerie now you can get them on sale! I got these for around $17 because they were 50% off!

I am no a sweatpants person. However, if sweatpants were cute these would be the pair! They are super sparkly and are also kind of chic. I could totally see myself dressing these up for some reason.

Who couldn't love this adorable pair of PJ shorts! Gotta love my polar bears.

I am kind of obsessed with these jeans. They are black with a metallic cheetah print. For only $20 for Free People jeans I couldn't leave them behind! I snagged this deal at Nordstrom Rack.

Here are some random things I have picked up. I was in need of a new pair of pearl studs. So I picked them up from my favorite jewelry boutique at a mall near me. Also I picked up a knit head band to wear around campus and out and about over break.

At Target I picked up a Revlon lipstick in Black Cherry. I have heared so many beauty gurus rave about it that I had to pick it up. Then I got a new moss green nail polish on clearance then finally a pair of red tights to wear during the holiday season!

Gilly Hicks was having their Semi-Annual sale so I picked up a few things for super cheap! I got a pair of jeggings and a pair of sparkly leggings. Their leggings are super nice and I think these will be great to wear if I want to be comfy but cute.

Recently I have been obsessed with button downs. So I picked up these two button downs for only about $7 each! How can you pass up a deal like that?

I also picked up a bra for only $9! But I thought it would be weird to show it but if you like Gilly Hicks bras this is the time to stock up my friends.

That is the end of my back home haul! I will for sure be doing a Christmas haul as soon as I have seen all of my friends and family! Comment down below what you got if you went shopping the minuet you got back from college. Or if you have scored some good deals anywhere!
