Follow Me Around: Patriotic Fun + Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July!!!!

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Fourth of July! I had a super great time staying with my friend Cassidy in Bettendorf, Iowa. As her family said I had a "Old fashion small town 4th of July". Our fourth was filled with swimming, me burning, going to there street fest, and watching the fireworks. It was one of the best fourths yet!

While I was there Cassidy and I picked up these American flag boxers at Target because we were planning our Halloween costumes already..... Then we decided to wear them around the rest of the day. They are a clone of all of the American flag shorts guys wear so we felt pretty cool and hey they are super patriotic. We took a punch of srat pictures with them on so I hope you enjoy!

Outfit:
Shirt: Spirit Jersey
Shorts: Target (Mens section)
Hat: Ralph Lauren Polo

A trip to Bettendorf is not complete without a visit to Whitey's! Its their ice cream place and it is so good!!!

On the 4th we spent the day swimming which was super fun! I haven't swam in probably over a year.... I know I don't get out much. But it was super fun laying by the pool and swimming with some of my Pi Phi sisters.

Sparklers, Fun, and Flags: Fourth of July outfit ideas

The Fourth of July is right around the corner! The month of June literally flew by. But now it is time to figure out what you are gonna wear for the big festivities. Determining your red, white, and blue ensemble kind of depends on what you will be doing on the fourth. Will you be at a classy affair, sitting on the grass watching fireworks, or in and out of the pool all day?

Well, I created three looks that are perfect for any activities you could be doing on the Fourth of July! There is a dressy, casual, and super casual look you can be inspired by.

Dressy: Lets say you are going to a more fancy place for the fourth. Maybe you are going to a nice restaurant, out on a nice boat, I can't think of anything else but maybe you just want to dress up! Well, here is the outfit for you! (I am actually kind of obsessed with this outfit.) I paired a fun pair of navy pom pom shorts with a simple white scallop tank. To add a pop of red to the look I added a bold Baublebar necklace. I love the layered look that this necklace gives. For accessories I chose a bright red leather bag with a neutral espadrille. Altogether it creates a very chic, preppy, and girly Fourth of July look.

Semi-Casual: I know for my Fourth of July I will probably be wondering around my friends town, watching fireworks, and other things of that nature. So, I want something comfy but also super cute. This would be my ideal look for the Fourth of July. I paired a fun pair of scalloped shorts with a simple white tee. Incorporating white into your outfit, I think, is super important! Mainly because you will be out in the hot sun and a white shirt will keep you cooler then a blue or red shirt. For shoes I paired them with these super fun Jack Rogers because they are my obsession. Then lastly I added a KJP red, white, and blue bracelet for an extra patriotic touch. Plus I am also obsessed with KJP.

Casual: There are a lot of people who are probably going to be on the beach, at the pool, or on a lake for the Fourth of July. So, this outfit is perfect to just throw on over a bathing suit! I am loving these super cute American flag running shorts! These are a huge trend it feels like and I love them. I paired the shorts with just a plain white tank (you could do red or blue too!) then a pair of white Keds and then a simple blue hair bow. If you are going for a preppy casual look this is your ideal 4th of July outfit.

Red, white, and chic!

All American girl
I hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day! Everyone should take a moment to honor those who have fought for our country and freedom.
Here are some of my favorite red, white, and blue pieces! Any of these would be perfect to wear on Memorial day or the 4th of July or any day you are feeling patriotic.

OOTD and Fourth of July

July 4th, 2013: Yesterday was the Fourth of July! By far this is the most fun Fourth I have ever had. I spent it with some great friends singing, eating, and watching the fireworks at our local golf club. It was the perfect weather out and we had many festivities going on. There were a few bands we jammed out to and danced on our blankets set up. Ignoring the stares we kept going and had a blast.

My roommate and I having fun with sparklers once it got dark. We had so many going at once it made for some really cool pictures!

The Outfit: Of course it being Fourth of July you must sport your red white and blue proudly. So I chose this super cute almost country concert like crop top with a pair of plain high waisted shorts. In my hair I wore the classic bandana look. Also, I wore a combination of many red lip products in attempt to keeping my lipstick in place.

Where it's from:
Crop top: American Eagle
Shorts: American Eagle
Shoes: Sperry Top Sider
Belt: Aerie
Bandana: Hobby Lobby (our craft store)
Sunnies: Dry Goods

Some tasty treats I enjoyed. On the left I had watermelon and lemon italian ice which was super refreshing. Then my friend's mom made us some delicious patriotic cupcakes!

The fireworks were absolutely amazing. They lasted about 40 min which is really impressive for just a suburb city fireworks so it was quite the show!

My Fourth of July nails. I used a variety of the Revlon Nail art nail polishes that I recently won for a contest for Teen Vogue. Also, I used gold shatter nail polish by OPI on one of my fingers on the other hand.
