Sparklers, Fun, and Flags: Fourth of July outfit ideas

The Fourth of July is right around the corner! The month of June literally flew by. But now it is time to figure out what you are gonna wear for the big festivities. Determining your red, white, and blue ensemble kind of depends on what you will be doing on the fourth. Will you be at a classy affair, sitting on the grass watching fireworks, or in and out of the pool all day?

Well, I created three looks that are perfect for any activities you could be doing on the Fourth of July! There is a dressy, casual, and super casual look you can be inspired by.

Dressy: Lets say you are going to a more fancy place for the fourth. Maybe you are going to a nice restaurant, out on a nice boat, I can't think of anything else but maybe you just want to dress up! Well, here is the outfit for you! (I am actually kind of obsessed with this outfit.) I paired a fun pair of navy pom pom shorts with a simple white scallop tank. To add a pop of red to the look I added a bold Baublebar necklace. I love the layered look that this necklace gives. For accessories I chose a bright red leather bag with a neutral espadrille. Altogether it creates a very chic, preppy, and girly Fourth of July look.

Semi-Casual: I know for my Fourth of July I will probably be wondering around my friends town, watching fireworks, and other things of that nature. So, I want something comfy but also super cute. This would be my ideal look for the Fourth of July. I paired a fun pair of scalloped shorts with a simple white tee. Incorporating white into your outfit, I think, is super important! Mainly because you will be out in the hot sun and a white shirt will keep you cooler then a blue or red shirt. For shoes I paired them with these super fun Jack Rogers because they are my obsession. Then lastly I added a KJP red, white, and blue bracelet for an extra patriotic touch. Plus I am also obsessed with KJP.

Casual: There are a lot of people who are probably going to be on the beach, at the pool, or on a lake for the Fourth of July. So, this outfit is perfect to just throw on over a bathing suit! I am loving these super cute American flag running shorts! These are a huge trend it feels like and I love them. I paired the shorts with just a plain white tank (you could do red or blue too!) then a pair of white Keds and then a simple blue hair bow. If you are going for a preppy casual look this is your ideal 4th of July outfit.

Summer Style: Orange ya glad?

Juicy and bright
Orange has been a big trend for summer this year. Usually I am not a big orange or yellow person but they are both growing on me. These looks all incorporate some type of orange. Whether it is in a bag, shirt, or skirt or in an accessory anyone can incorporate orange into their everyday style.

Look 1: This look is pretty simple and easy. By pairing an orange top with jeans it creates a casual cute look. You can dress it up a bit with leather sandals and a bold statement necklace. For an extra orange pop wear a darker orange nail polish.

Look 2: For a more subtle orange look wear a simple solid color dress, I suggest black, and carry and orange handbag. I love this one from Henri Bendel. The size is perfect and the tassel is a super cute touch. Accessorize your look with a long gold necklace and metallic sandals for an easy summer look.

Look 3: A more edgy look includes an orange skirt with a white halter crop top. Pair this summery pair with a stack of orange friendship bracelets. This combination makes for an edgy boho look. Complete the look with leather sandals.

Summer Style: How to style high waisted shorts

"Never trashy always classy"
Sometimes high waisted shorts aren't always worn in the classiest of ways. Exposes to much midriff or booty isn't always the best idea. So, what are some ways to wear your high waisted shorts in a cute and classy way? Well, I have three looks that will solve all of our worries!

A fancy top: Pair your high waisted shorts with a classic short sleeve blouse. Pick something with a fun print to make it seem less drab and more fab! I love this patterned shirt from J Crew. I would call it tribal chic. Pair your shirt with a fun statement necklace and a leather sandal for a classic look perfect for any summer day

Metallic accessories: Have a darker denim short? Well pair it with fun gun metal accessories to make your look super chic and sophisticated. For a top wear a longer crop top to make sure you only see a peak of your midriff.

Striped shirt: I am a huge fan of a striped shirt. Style a classic pair of high waisted shorts with this classic basic for a fun and simple look. Add a dash of color with a bold ballet flat for a girly touch. Complete your look with a statement earring and high pony tail for the ultimate girly girl summer look.

What to wear to your internship

"I have nothing to wear!"
As college students get out for summer, most people will start up either a summer job or an internship. The big question is, what should I wear to my internship?!

Well, its a hard question to answer because every office is different! The internship I have currently is pretty casual when it comes to the way we dress. We don't roll into work wearing jeans or sweats of course, but we can look more casual then most offices probably allow. So one of my biggest tips is first feel out your work environment. Your first day it's probably a safe bet to overdress. You don't want to show up and look underdressed! Once you get a feel for what people typically wear you can get a better idea of what you should wear.

Here are three categories you might find in an office.

Business Casual:
For a business casual look you need to be put together but you don't need to show up in a suit or anything crazy! I would suggest a pair of patterned pants like J Crew's chino pants. Pair your fun pants with a bodes top and cardigan. Most offices are cold, even if it is hot outside, so I suggest pairing your ensemble with a sweater or jacket at all times! Layers is always a good idea. If you get hot or cold you can adjust your outfit accordingly. The main thing with business casual is deciding if it is business enough. My main suggestion is just keep things modest. Watch you necklines and your bra straps! Because something tells me your boss isn't wanting to see that! There will be plenty of times to wear your super cute spaghetti strap tanks, don't wear them to work!

Casual:
For my internship, my office is relatively casual. For a casual appropriate outfit I would suggest skirts, dresses, or pants that are professional but they don't have to be as formal. An example of this would be a pair of long shorts with a denim button down. The shorts are casual but they are long enough where they are appropriate. A denim button down is a good option because it is still a collared shirt but it isn't as stuffy as a normal button down may seem. The key to a casual intern look is making sure you still look like you are going to work. Stay away from super short skirts and shorts. For shoes, try and wear ballet flats or nice sandals. Wearing rubber flip flops to the office is a big no no. So either wear a nice pair of leather Sperry's or a classic pair of ballet flats.

Professional:
Now for the hardest category of all, professional. As a 18 year old college student I don't have a lot of clothes I would consider business professional. I tend to buy more fun and colorful pieces. But, most corporate office internships require you to dress the part. So what should you wear? Well, I think a dress is you easiest bet. Its one piece and is easy to put on. Pair your dress with a blazer or cardigan of some sort, especially if it is sleeveless. If you wear a colored dress keep the rest of your look neutral. In the look I created above I paired a blue purple dress with a tan blazer, nude heels, and a simple gold necklace. The key for professional wear is to make sure you stay simple and classic. This isn't the time to wear your new edgy dress. Stick with classic silhouettes, modest hemlines, and heels are probably always a good idea. But, ballet flats are also an appropriate footwear option.

I hope these tips and tricks were helpful to anyone who has an internship this summer!

Graphic Sweaters

I have seen so many graphic or patterned sweaters recently. Spring may be on it's way but it still chilly out. So, take advantage of sweater weather while it is still here. I have found some super cute graphic sweaters from a variety of different places. There really is something for anyone's budget. These sweaters are from Old Navy, Forever 21, and J Crew.

Fun sweaters like this can make a great simple outfit. Pair them with a pair of skinny jeans and boots and you have a cute, simple, and comfortable outfit. Or you could pair your sweater with a skirt and tights to make it a little less casual.

Overall these sweaters are a super fun addition to any outfit. Not to mention there is one for no matter what your style or personality is.

OOTD: Purple Punch

This OOTD features my favorite color purple! It's crazy how many purple things I own but I actually don't own a lot of purple clothes. But, I spiced this outfit up with adding some great purple accessories. I wore a super fun statement necklace featuring both a darker purple and magenta color. Then I also threw on a fun purple hat to help me stay warm out in the cold. To finish the look I wore my favorite heels by Vince Camuto. They are a Mary Jane style shoe that are surprisingly super comfortable.

For my makeup I also wore some purple hues. My eyes have a thicker line of a purple eye pencil. It is a nice change from my normally neutral eye look. Then I also wore a purple colored lipstick. Most people would be afraid of a color like this put I actually really like it! It's a nice change from a pink or red shade.

Pink Peonies

Pink Peonies are Blair Waldorf's favorite flower. So, naturally I had to create some outfits inspired by them.......

Pink is a super girly and feminine color. These two looks are full of pink and floral touches.

The first look is a little more dressy. This would be ideal for work, a nice dinner, or if you just like to dress up (aka people like me!). The button down shirt has a beautiful beaded detail which makes it unique from a plain shirt. I paired it with a floral pencil skirt which is super feminine. For accessories of course you need Kate Spade! Both the shoes and the bag are a fun pop of color and sparkle to the look.

However, the second look is a little more casual. I paired this bold graphic print shirt with a floral scarf. There is a lot of pattern in the look but it all kind of works together. Pairing the top with a simple pair of jeans and ankle booties makes it a super casual and easy look. Add a bold pink lip to brighten up the look in addition to a hot pink satchel! I have seen this satchel a lot in the blogging world and it is adorable! This look is less feminine then the other put it is still super fun and bright. I think there is always a way to incorporate pink into a look no matter what your style is. From light blush pink to a dark deep pink there is a shade for everyone!

{Can we all get pink peonies from Chuck Bass? That would be an amazing day.}

Disney Week: Aristocats

Day 4: Aristocats

Marie is one adorable cat. She is super cute and super sassy. I made an outfit that reflected her her character and her appearance.

I paired an embellished button down with a fun pair of patterned pants. This fun is chic and fun. I love the pink pattern on the pants. It is a fun pop of color to the look. For shoes I used a pair of bow embellished ballet flats. The bow mimics the bow that Marie always wears. For accessories I used a sparkly bracelet to complete the look.

Disney Week: Hercules

Day 3: Hercules

Hercules is one of my obsessions recently. (It's on Netflix people go watch it.) The part where Meg sings this song is my favorite part. So, I wanted to do a Greek god inspired look and replicate Meg's purple dress.

For this look I paired a flowy purple tank that has sheer panels. It kind of resembles Meg's flowy dress. Then I paired the tank with a simple pair of black ankle pants. I added gold accents and jewelry for a Greek God inspired look. Then to finish it off use a dark plum lipstick!

Disney Week: Alice and Wonderland

Day 2: Alice and Wonderland

Alice and Wonderland is such a whimsical movie. Here is a funny picture I found with a floral crown. Who knew the cat would predict such a fashion trend.

This look was inspired by this picture and the overall feel of the movie. I wanted something that was whimsical, fun, and floral.

I paired a striped basic top with just a simple pair of jeans. With a bold and colorful necklace it gives the look a fun touch. Then a simple flower crown to add to your hair look to add an extra touch. Pair your ensemble with a pair of ballet flats (like Alice's in the movie!) and a fun floral bag.

Overall, Alice and Wonderland is a crazy and out there movie. So, mixing patterns and colors is a great way to draw inspiration from the movie.

Disney Week: Dumbo

Welcome to Disney Week! I will be off and on vacation on a Disney Cruise. Of course you will hear all about it once I am back but I wanted to bring the fun of Disney to my blog!

So here is a week of Disney character inspired outfits. Each day will be a different character and a new idea for how you can take a simple inspiration and make it chic and fun.

Hope you enjoy!

Day 1: Dumbo

Dumbo is such a cutie! So naturally who wouldn't want a dumbo inspired outfit?
This outfit is more on the edgy side. I picked a simple grey jersey dress with a little bit of mesh detailing. Paired along with it I used red or maroon accessories. The red comes from the visions of the circus tents that are in the movie.

To finish things off wear any pair of little booties or ankle boots. These remind me of something a circus master would wear.

To re-create this look simply pick out a grey dress and accessorize!

Gold Glitter

Gold is one of my favorite metals. I love the look of gold and how glamorous it looks on. So, I wanted to share some of the ways I like to incorporate gold into my looks.

1. Jewelry: Jewelry is one of the main and easy ways to use gold in an outfit. Almost all the jewelry pieces I own have gold metal in them. I think its super classic and girly. You can get gold bracelets, necklaces, or even earrings anywhere! From Forever 21 to Henri Bendel there is a price point and style for everyone.

My picks:

2. A sequin dress or skirt: I love wearing sequin dresses or skirts to spice up your look. They are great to have around if you ever need a fancy dress. I also like to wear sequin skirts everyday. There are so many ways that you can wear them in a casual way. Or you can dress them up and make it a cute going out look. Here is how I styled my sequins skirts during the holidays:

3. Metallic ballet flats or shoes: Adding a pop of metallic for your shoes is also an easy way to add gold into an outfit. Also, gold ballet flats or heels are super versatile and you can wear them for special occasions or for an every day look.
